When Swytch launched I bought a kit for my bike. It has never worked, even though I have sent videos and have received replacement parts. Total waste of money - really disappointed.

I love my Swytch bike. However, I noticed the battery didn't hold the charge as long as advertised. It will show two bars on the powerpack, but the OLED says the battery is empty and, subsequently, cuts out.

Would have been 5 stars but for the lack of after sales service. Product is quality but it was advertised as fitting any bike! Not so! I have a folding Apollo bike and the only place the pick-up censor will fit is on the frame behind the pedal shaft but the adjoing cable wasn't long enough to accommodate it. I therefore had to make a bracket adapted from a drain pipe to mount the censor forward of the pedals shaft. It works but it is in a precarious position and subject to damage from knocks or grounding. My gripe really is with the after sales support. Switch didn't offer any help whatsoever except to say they would put it to their technicians and get back to me! They never did!!! A longer cable would have solved the problem but that suggestion fell on deaf ears!! Shame really because it is a quality product and works very well, amazing power. I just urge you make sure it will fit your bike before committing, after all it's not a cheap purchase.

I was very pleased to receive my Swytch kit, but think a 6 month wait is a bit on the long side. Installation was relatively simple, and initially the kit worked well. After about 6 months I started to notice that the power drops out intermittently, which is extremely annoying. Also the battery which is the biggest available does not last more than 25km before needing to be re-charged. I convinced my wife to buy one as well, and had the same problem, the power cuts in and out, and of course you notice it most when it is needed the most! For my kit, I received support by email, which was prompt and friendly, but has only improved the problem slightly, not cured.

OK but battery does not last nearly as long as advertised. Battery cover v difficult to re-zip. Toggle switch too easy to switch off when plugging in to recharge

I did enjoy my Swytch Bike because I was able to keep my everyday bike with a little extra kick. But my experience wasn’t great whist I partly stopped cycling shortly after buying, some of that was down to the hassle of the kit and because I changed job. It took me hours to install as quite fiddly and certain parts have to be highly aligned, which became harder as my bike (Specalized) had a thick drop tube that impacted the positioning of the pedal sensor (there may be a different sensor available now). This made for a ride where if the awkward alignment was out the motor would pulse with power and off putting, combined with the juddering brakes which was due to the Swytch (heavy battery), I didn’t often use it. There were also a few equipment failures that were very well handled by customer service, who I can’t fault even when I had ignored the problem for sometime and was embarrassed approaching them. I know the battery is smaller and lighter now and I reckon if your bike is suitable then it’s a great buy. I certainly don’t regret it, as it was a great introduction to electric bikes and made me realise I was happy to buy an out and out electric bike but maybe I should have done that first.

Kia ora team, from New Zealand. This kit is very easy to install and the instructions were very simple to follow. I did have to wait a very long time for it to arrive to NZ and when it did, an essential component was missing. Another long wait but once it arrived the assembly was done in about 30 mins. My wife loves it. Tracking of articles in this part of the world could be improved. This system is greatly priced worldwide and I would not hesitate to get another one if I had another project bike.

Fitted well my Brompton that still folds in the same compact volume. Sometime the electric motor stutters? The electrical contact of the battery could be improved.

Customer service, including an out of warranty repair was handled very professionally.

A great system which allows you to convert your own bike and find your legs are 30 years younger! Easy to fit and ride. Only downside is the odd ordering method which means you have to wait for the next delivery slot.

Impressive bit of kit. All works well. Only gripe pedal sensor was broken so had to wait 10 days for replacement. The fitting wasn’t too bad fairly straightforward.

It's a good product and much less expensive than buying an electric bike for someone who doesn't cycle often. However the old style battery for my bike didn't last long after having not charged it over the winter months. A new one was really expensive but fortunately my son upgraded to the new mobile phone sized battery and I got his old one!

Hi, yeah kit arrived ok, and fitting the kit wasn’t too bad. But riding the bike with the weight of the battery on the handlebars is unstable. The roads aren’t great and letting go of the grips to indicate left or right is wobbly and can be dangerous. On refection the battery needs to be mounted in the frame or over the rear wheel. It’s a shame but tend to ride my bike without the battery fitted. Regards Mr D Parker.

The swytch kit gave me the confidence and comfort to ride my bike more often and for more applications. I began cycling to work, which previously would have left me sweaty and too fatigued to work at my best. With the assistance from the motor I also had more confidence on the road. I wasn’t keen on getting purpose built ebike, they’re heavy, some have proprietary components, and I like to do my own maintenance and lifting those things can make minor maintenance a pain. By keeping my bike I have been able to keep maintenance simple. I was pleasantly surprised to find recently that new components have become available to existing users, I was able to move my battery from the handlebars to my bike rack due to the power extension cable, which has improved handling greatly. I wish extra batteries were more attainable, I’d love them for longer rides. I have had to replace both my pedal sensor due to failure and magnet disc due to breakage, but the parts were available and easy to order and the cost has been so much less than getting a new bike. Fun to ride, glad to keep my own bike, and cost effective, would recommend.

I purchased the origional battery and e-conversion kit back in 2020. It took several hours to figure out how to put it together, partly because you will need to make adjustments with washers so as to accommodate the hub to the front wheel forks and brake discs. Swytch are very good at communicating the best way to making fitting adjustments and they are also very good with replacing items that fail within the 2 year warranty period ( I purchased a USB rechargable back light that failed inside the warranty and Swytch replaced it without a quibble. I also needed to replace the battery cover due to a zip failure and that was done quickly aswell.) Nothing is perfect in life, or with rarity however, and the same could be said for Swytch. The early product would sometimes vibrate at the hub, at terminal speed, and still does, however, it is usually remedied by not peddling for a few seconds. It seems it had something to do with the power draw from the older battery, so I'm not sure if this has been cured with the new batteries. I would also say that I asked for information from Swytch about the battery charge duration of the new lighter weight products, but they failed to reply. Unless Swytch overlooked this, it suggests to me there was little or no advantage to making the conversion to the new battery, which to do so would have meant forking out another £300-400 depending on which one.

Over the time we have had the older version on my wife's bike has worked well on the conventional ladies road bike. How ever on my hybrid bike the weight on the front is to much, steering and handling suffers. Have been unable to to reposition lower down. Having ordered the.new version battery position under seat bar or lower down on lower bottom of frame, should be so much better once received and fitted.

I was looking for a cheaper alternative to a ‘full’ electric bike. Swytch looked perfect as it is not too hilly around us. I swapped the wheel and attached everything in about 2 hours I was amazed when I tried the bike. I’d never ridden an electric bike before and it made such a HUGE difference Ours is the older, bulkier battery. The new one looks much smaller, lighter and better There is nothing bad to say about the Swytch .. the only reason for 4 stars not 5 is that other ‘purpose made’ electric bikes have become so much cheaper that if starting again i would go through all the options again

I was able to covert my wife's Kona Splice Deluxe to an awesome e- assist bike with ease. We love the bikes and now she doesn't get so fatigued on longer rides or hilly rides. Other e assist type bikes on the market were not in the same league as the Kona so this was a perfect solution. We wee early adopters and have the older system with the bulkier battery handle bar mount - the battery weight does require some extra handlebar care when turning at slow speed - we are considering upgrading to the newer system
