“Nice blanket but very strong chemical smell off it. Needs a lot of airing before it can be used.”

Thanks for your feedback David and sorry to hear this! It's quite unusual for us. The great thing about our Recycled Wool Blankets is that thanks to the 30% landfill-saved fibres in them, it can also be popped in the washing machine. We've added a few handy wool washing tips below: Make sure to separate darks and lights and add wool soap and fabric softener (optional) to the dispensing drawer rather than to the drum. Run the “wool wash” if your machine has one under 30ºC (or 80ºF for our friends across the pond). If not, run a 30ºC or less cycle with the lowest possible spin cycle. We can’t guarantee every machine will be able to wash a blanket without problems, but when we tried it ourselves they turned out just lovely.

“I've bought a number of blankets from the Tartan Blanket Co. and absolutely loved them. This one is the exception. The colours are great, but the quality is poor. I have put it on my sofa and after just a few days it's looking rather worn and tired. So, I'm disappointed.”

“One of the blankets,the recyled wool stank of chemicals from the colour dye . It was very strong and flooded our room. Well after hand washing on the wool cycle it's a little better but I really think you guys need to address this chemical issue. Shame it's a love pattern. Had no probs with the other blankets. 7 blankets ordered in all just probs with smell from one. It was so strong.”

Hello Michael Thanks for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry to see that you have had concerns over the Recycled Wool Blanket. Our blankets aren't treated so the natural lanolin within the wool is what you can smell. This does disappear with airing. and the blanket can be washed in the machine on a cool wool setting on hand wash. You mentioned that you have done that already so with a bit of airing that natural lanolin smell should fade. When drying your blanket remember that wool shrinks with heat so try not to dry over a radiator or heater. We have a whole care guide for your blanket, which includes all the information you need for washing your blanket on the website. “I love the blanket! But I need to say that I expected more from the embroided initials. 1) The position of the initials was not nicely chosen. It is not centered or perfectly situated in one ofe corners, like you would imagine 2) The font of the initials is a bit stiff and does not match the rustic feeling of the blanket”

“The grey and lemon herringbone is great but the New Wool Blanket in Grey Diamond Herringbone does not match the same standard - it is slightly smaller but also it does not feel as thick and worth the money.”

“This was sent as a gift overseas so I don’t know the quality etc however ther wasn’t anywhere on your website to ask if I wanted it as a gift or to send a message (not that I saw) so that would have been helpful so at this time I have no idea if the recipient know the cost of the gift which isn’t good. They did say they are looking lovely”

Hi Lynn, So sorry that you missed the Gift Box and Gift Card section of our site, you can select them once you get to your cart. As our scarves and blankets are sent as gifts so often we don't include any pricing information with in our packaging. If orders are getting shipped to the US and Canada we need to put the order information, including the price on the outside of the box for customs. I'm glad to hear that the recipients like their new blankets. - Alison
