Good Afternoon Murdoch, We were sorry that we were unable to assist with the key being stuck in your barrel, and also commented on your feedback via trustpilot about having replied back to yourself via your email communication with a resolution to assist with this in the hopes that that situation will be resolved. Kind Regards The Origin Team

We paid extra choosing between our sliding doors as we were told Origin are the best and although we love the look of our new doors we’ve had a nightmare with people coming out to try and fix a leak about 6 times. It’s put our whole renovation on hold as we can’t install our kitchen flooring, months later and it’s still ongoing. We’ve been told it’s a known manufacture issue with the sliding doors. The drainage holes drain inwards instead of out?!

Good Morning Amy, We are sorry to hear that you have had delays and issues on your project using our sliding doors. However, the below is not an issue that should be occurring as all of our systems are designed to drain outwards and away from the property. The drainage system within our sliders has not been raised as a known manufacturing fault so we would be very keen to understand what may be causing any leaks that you are experiencing. We would please ask for you to contact your installer and request for the issue to be reported to us here at Origin if it hasn’t been already. We can then consult with them directly and assess the cause, as well as providing a required solution to the problem. Kind Regards The Origin Team

I had an origin sliding patio door fitted 2 years ago, had an absolute nightmare experience with the regional official origin installer. The door needed to be re fitted 3 times to reach at least borderline acceptable result. Thermal and noise insulation of the doors remained very poor, for the price I paid I was expecting at least some insulation standards to be met. Definitely avoid sliding doors where they would be exposed to high winds

Hi peter, We are sorry to hear that have had a few issues with the installation of your sliding doors. Origin partners work as independent suppliers and whist we do work closely with them, the partner is responsible for the surveying, ordering of products, installing and aftercare. We hope they have now correctly installed your doors for you. In regards to the insulation issues, we would again advise to speak to your installer to inspect. Kind Regards The origin team

3 Doors oversized for opening bad design I believe the installation should have been a 4 door as the weight of the three falls to the one side so you can’t open the doors without a struggle and sometimes impossible to close properly to lock them installation perfect but product badly designed , Origin as so many other customers have received complaints but really not interested they always blame the installation not there product they won’t even come out to look at the problem I would not recommend them to anyone kind regards from chris watson at SA68 0xe and if there’s any one out there that could sort these bifolding doors out please contact me on 07957718906

Good Morning, We are sorry to hear that you have experienced some issues with the install of your Origin products. All Origin partners work as independent suppliers and whist we do work closely with them, the partner is responsible for the surveying, ordering of products, installing and aftercare. This is supported by Origin’s manufactured product warranty which will rectify any manufacturing failure of the physical product, but does not include any remedial work due to installation issues. If we can help any further, please do contact us on 01494 686868. Kind Regards. Origin

The product is good (aluminium bifold door and windows), however, there are other problems. Firstly, Origin recommend installers who are not associated with a relevant trade organisation, so when we had problems there was no trade body to turn too to gain a unbiased resolution. This is not good when you're paying 10's of thousands of pounds for their product - Origin drop you like a hot coal and do NOT want to get involved. Secondly, having now been on the fourth remake of the same Origin door, Origin refused to engage with me as to why they were performing so poorly and again just kept passing me back to the installer, who in turn tells me it's Origins fault, but with no explanation. Very poor form. With this in mind, I would not use Origin again or recommend them in the Kent area.

Dear Mr Graveson, Please accept our apologies for the issues that you are experiencing with your purchase. At Origin, we strive to produce a high level of service to all our customers and this is not the usual performance you should expect to receive. We do work through a network of partners who we only display on our website after they have met a high set of criteria. As referenced on their website, the partner you have chosen to work with are fully registered members of CERTASS, which is one of the highest ranking trade associations in the industry and are there to provide help and guidance as needed. Unfortunately, like many businesses at the moment, we and our partners are working within highly difficult circumstances and with reduced capacity, which on occasion, has resulted in a higher margin of error and delays. Regardless, please be assured we take all issues highlighted to us seriously and your information has been escalated to our Head of Sales Operations and Customer Experience Director for their review. Kind Regards Origin

Poor standards of finish on doors complained to company that fitted bi-folddoors they say that this is origins standard. After spending 3,500No one from Origin willing to come out and inspect the issue. One door has dent in the aluminium but it’s just been painted over so leaves an orange peel effect where the dent is. Origin Say that if you can’t see it from 2 meters that’s there standard !SHOCKING STANDARDS ! for a company that says it prides itself on QUALITY I will never buy again from them

I have installed 4 sets of 3m wide triple pane bifold doors. I researched options very carefully and decided on Origin on the basis of perceived high product quality, rapid delivery possibilities as well as the recommendations of my chosen installer. However since installation I have had 2 major problems where the response from Origin has been either dismissive or helpful but misleading. Firstly I had to write to complain about the traffic door very quickly slamming shut in no more than a moderate breeze. I wrote to Origin with my very serious concerns about the danger to a child who might be beside the door as it slammed. Especially, if he/she might happen to be standing with their hand on the jamb. The slamming door could amputate little fingers. The somewhat dismissive written response from Origin was that the door magnets are not intended to hold a door in position once opened. Yet their online brochure, in the section headed "Keeping the Family Safe" still says " Special finger-safe gaskets stop little fingers from getting trapped when the doors are in use, while magnetic catches hold the doors firmly in place once you’ve folded them back". My experience does not support this claim and we were dismayed at how Origin dismissed our concerns. The offer of free extra magnets was placatory and did not address the root cause of the problem. My second problem has been excessive amounts of water ingress partly through the glazed door panels and partly through the ends of the lower frame. I was initially told that the drainage channel through the bottom track was open at the ends and that Origin relied on installers to seal it on fitting. My installer was sure that this had never been part of Origin's training and after he removed the door we found that the channels were indeed sealed, but in one case not completely. My analysis of the problem has shown that water has somehow been collecting on the inside ledge of the bottom track, under the inner seal. I have seen water bubbling up through this seal and the ends of this ledge indeed not sealed. But, I have had to work this out for myself as Origin did not seem to be aware of this mechanism. Yes, we might have had the problem during high wind and lashing rain, but the purpose of any quality bifold is to keep the weather outside where it belongs and not to let water inside. I have had to collect over a litre of water which has passed through the doors and track. As the door is on the first floor, before I was able to collect water, is just it flowed down and damaged a newly decorated ceiling of the new room beneath. As you can guess we were very unhappy about this and we will await next winter with trepidation.

Good Afternoon Mike, We are sorry to hear about the issues you have experienced with your Origin doors. Regarding the magnetic catches - apologies if you found our literature misleading, the updated information states that the catches are to temporarily hold the doors in place whilst they are being operated. The finger safe gaskets between the doors create a cushion to prevent fingers being harmed should they get accidentally trapped. The issue with the water collecting in your track is an installation issue which should be remedied by the company who supplied and fitted the doors. The track ends should have been properly sealed during installation of the doors and this is covered in the installation training we provide to our trade partners and also included in our installation guide. Whilst they remain an independent company, any trade partner recommended by Origin would have offered training in installation, product knowledge and customer service. If you would like to discuss this further please don’t hesitate to contact us at enquiry@origin-global.com Kind regards,

I purchased my bifolds 2 years ago and have had to call the fitters out 5 times because the main door keeps dropping leaving a gap and draft into my dining room, I wrote to origin directly over a month ago and received no reply, the doors were not cheap and after my experience I would not recommend purchasing again

We love the quality, the way they close, the way they look. The one huge disappointment however is the way the doors when open are restricted to prevent them closing or blowing open and causing the door and frame damage. If we had known prior to purchase we would not have purchased the doors or in the size we have them. The restricters are not fit for purpose, something that you would find on a cheap upvc window. There is barely any protection against the doors blowing open or shut once open. . They have a plastic runner that has no strength, so little that the frame moves each time the doors are opened. It really surprises me how such a great product is let down so much by the fact that the doors cannot be used how they were intended to be used so are not really fit for purpose. Its like having plastic seats and rubber matting in a Rolls Royce !

Good Morning Mr Bouch, Thank you for your feedback. The restrictors we use are not designed to hold the doors in the wind. The only way to do this would be to have a hook and eye restrictor installed, however, this is something we do not supply. You can request these from your initial installer. Our restrictor is designed to stop the door opening past the angle of 90 degrees, or 135 degrees and are not tested or designed to stop the doors in the wind. The plastic acetal wheels are designed to have very slight movement in them, within the tracks, as this allows the doors to run smoothly and the material avoids causing damage to the profile. The movement is a tolerance included in the design to improve the operation of the doors. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01925 907907. Many thanks

Recently purchased French doors for the kitchen. Affix Windows, Sidcup did the installation, unfortunately there is a draught coming through the top, vertical, section of the door. Affix are currently trying to resolve the problem. Obviously not overly impressed with the product at the moment.

The customer service system and action time is probably the worst I have ever seen. The product is great as long as you get what you order. We had a problem with the hinge and it took six weeks to send the correct replacement which should not have happened in the first place.

Very pleased with our doors but after sales service very poor. After installation tried to register for 20 year guarantee on line but couldn't do this as the site was being updated due to Data Protection. Advised to try on the 2nd July. Phoned Customer Services to try to register the doors this way, only to be told it couldn't be done because of the system update. The person I spoke to didn't offer to keep the details on file and register them as soon as possible, just said to try again at beginning of July. On the 2nd July managed to register and had the message 'Thank you, we will contact you'. On the 16th July received a message 'Registration complete, you will shortly receive your Welcome Pack and Certificate'. Nothing has been received which is worrying.

The window lock fell apart a few days after installation. Origin did not respond positively nor adequately to my request that they fix it, but told me to contact the installer. You could and should do more.

We put Origin Bi-fold doors in on our new extension and were sold on the low threshold, nice design and ease of use which in reality did not quite deliver. We didn't get a low threshold and have a 5cm lip on the doors which was the first disappointment but one we could live with, especially with the fine appearance, safety features and ease of use. Since coming back in to the cold and windy weather of winter this has highlighted problems. The doors have dropped in the frame, which does happen I believe and we can now see daylight through the frame again so the installers will need to come back for a third time. Our architect specified triple glazed doors for the extra thermal protection but this is quite frankly a waste of time. The biggest issue we have is the long vent which leaks cold air like a sieve would leak water. On windy days especially, a significant draught comes through the vent. The installer is not interested as the vent is as supplied and not incorrectly fitted or damaged. Unlike other, cheaper, vents on our double glazing units the origin vent is anything but trickle. On our other windows in the house with their £5 plastic vents if we choose to close them they are designed in such a way that the wind pressure actually forces them tighter shut. The stronger the wind the tighter shut the vent, simple. With the Origin vent on their bi-fold doors I believe that there is a fundamental design flaw as the stronger the wind the greater the draught in the house. This completely negates the triple glazing. Origin say that the vent is not weather rated but this is a feeble excuse. They were keen to tell me their vent was 10 times the cost of my cheaper vents and the doors were double the cost of what our builder wanted to put in. The installer told me that some people in windier areas tape up their vents. Origin do not seem interested and will not agree there is a design flaw. The design of the vent is such that when the wind blows it easily exploits the gaps. The outside facing part of the vent acts as a funnel and is larger than the inside vent. This in principle would cause a pressure difference I believe. On our cheaper units the vents shut against the airflow and are sprung in the direction of air flow. On the Origin vent firstly it is not sprung and secondly it opens with the direction of airflow, out to in. At present this problem has not been resolved and Origin customer services have stopped replying to me. Poor service from a very promising beginning.

The windows look good and were relatively low cost. However, we had repeated problems with the installation of the folding sliding doors, which seemed to be unable to bear the weight of triple glazing, until the whole mechanism was replaced with something stronger. There are drafts coming through between the glazing and the frames of various windows, which just should not be there with any well made window. There is very poor noise insulation with these windows. the french door units just seem to accumulate water within the frame when it rains heavily, which then have flooded the internal window cills and damaged the plasterwork. Finally, a u value of 1.3 for triple glazed units is below par in my opinion. We have other triple glazed units in another section of our house that are just 0.9. I would avoid this company until they fundamentally improve their design.

Our above bi-fold triangle window was the wrong size and our window company provider, 5 Star of Worcester informs us that Origin can nor provide a fitting replacement until after the 31st of May, some 13 days later. This has caused us distress, cold and wind from ill fitting units and added costs due to having to re-engage our builders who are now off site.
