“I was a bit of a tricky case as a first time buyer; single, not a great salary, bit of a past credit-wise, old as the hills and with a teen dependent. I had a decent deposit on my side and a boringly safe job, but definitely not a slam dunk. I spoke to a couple of brokers who were less than interested, and went with one who failed to properly listen to my circumstances and proceeded to get me declined for a mortgage. Then I found Heather McLennan at John Charcol, who took the time to listen to what I said, and managed to find me mortgage with a high st lender at a competitive rate. Not only that but she did it in record time, communicating all the way through and making sure I had all the info. Despite the time pressure (my vendor was about to pull out I was taking so long) I never felt rushed or pressured. Heather is an absolute whiz at what she does and I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone.”

“I want to give Ryan Goodall all the credit he deserves for his endeavours helping me purchase a shared ownership property. Also, for his good advice regarding appropriate mortgage life cover, critical illness and funeral cover. There were quite a few delays along the way dealing with other companies, however, Ryan was always reassuring and had another solution to put forward if necessary. He acted in a professional and courteous manner; clearly had a lot of knowledge, and was prompt in responding to emails between us. It has been a pleasure working with him and I am very happy with the service provided.”

Razzak our mortgage advisor was extremely thorough and ensured we were aware of all the options available to us. “All pur phone calls with James regarding our life insurance have been excellent and we have been very impressed with the service we have received. James explained everything to us and took into consideration our personal circumstances to help us find the best policy for us. He was friendly and available when we needed to speak with him and made sure to take his time talking us through every part of the process. We had already used John Charcol to secure our mortgage offer and we will continue to use them in the future.”

“From our first phone call with our mortgage broker Brian to finalising our life insurance policy with Bradley, we have been so impressed with the whole service we received. We are first time buyers who knew nothing and Brian took the time to explain everything and then explain it all some more. He was always available, always friendly and we truly felt like he was doing his best for us. We had issues with our mortgage (due to me being self employed) but Brian was so helpful and came up with solution after solution. Even checking in multiple times after his part had been done to make sure we were okay and still on track. Buying a house isn’t easy and it’s definitely not something I’ll be doing anytime soon but when we do, we’ll definitely be using John Charcol. Money very well spent.”
