The move was on 3rd October 2022. It was an extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. The 2 men that helped me move were impolite and didn't even turn up in a professional manner. One of the men turned up just in casual clothes listening to music, they did not introduce themselves and were very standoffish. The other man, who i am assuming was in charge, made me feel extremely uncomfortable and i have not a clue why. They came completely unprepared. As a military family we have had lots of professional moves so knew what to expect and honestly i have no idea what £520 paid for! There was nothing to protect items, i had asked for 5 large boxes and 5 small boxes that never materialised and then was charged extra for all of the stuff that was supposed to go into those boxes. I was also charged extra just for a small tv and a pram. However i was not informed of these extra charges until all of my belongings had been put in the van therefore i didn't have a choice but to accept the extra charges instead of moving the items myself, which i would of preferred instead of paying even more money. I was on my own during the move and i feel like i was completely taken advantage of because as i woman i wouldnt feel comfortable starting conflict with two men on my own which i think they used as an advantage. The lack of professionalism led me to check the details of the van being used. Whilst the storage unit attached to the van was taxed, the van itself was not taxed (images have been attached) which i am certain is not allowed or legal when working for a removals company. I feel completely taken advantage of and it's taken me a few days to even get my head round it. As we are used moving i thought paying £450 was a little on the high side anyway, especially because i don't have much stuff. They arrived at 9.30 and the job was completed at 12.30, this means the entire job was around 4 hours so cost £130 per hour! Every single removal company i have compared that to charge £60 per house plus some additional charges for furniture they have to take extra care with. The men had absolutely no care for my belongings and kept bashing into things whilst loading the van, which again i didn't challenge because i was on my own and didnt feel comfortable to do so. I do feel like maybe they would care more if they worked for a company that cared about it's employees. I found reviews from previous employees comparing it to modern day slavery. I can't imagine the men who did my move are being paid the full £520. The final and worst part of the whole experience was damage to a piece of furniture, which is my most expensive piece of furniture. This isnt just a bit of paint it has taken a chunk out of the corner of the wood out of a piece of furniture which cost £500 on sale. I would like to be compensated for the move itself, obviously i don't wish the men themselves loose money they made for the loading and driving but £130 per hour is very very steep! And i want to be compensated for the unit which has been damaged. This email has been forwarded to all relevant departments and reviews left on google and trust pilot.
