“Well written, concise and full of historical bits. Warlord games has produced another simple but engaging wargame rules set. This takes Bolt action's Tank War supplement and fleshes it out into a more granular, single tank platoon level combat game. Although you can easily scale up once you get confident with the rules and housekeeping aspects. It has a multi-phase approach to keep players going back and forth, reacting as tanks reposition to get that kill shot. This keeps both players "in the battle". There are missions to try which utilise the additional aspects to the game such as "ambush points". There are stats for a reasonable amount of tanks to get you stuck into the game straight away. These are predominantly European theatre from 1942-45, Sherman's, Cromwell's, T34s, Panthers and Tigers along with armoured cars. No Pacific theatre (I know not many tank battles occured, they were support) or North Africa Theatre (I cannot wait for an Africa supplement for a Gentleman's war). The Tank ace system from BA Tank War returns allowing you to level up you tank crews and add further personality to your tankers. The standard game is 3-5 tanks so low model counts make trying the game a breeze with low investment. If you already play WW2 games chances are you already have a few tanks and if not; some 15mm FoW or PSC tanks can get you on the table for below £50. It includes copies of the cards, tokens and blank Tanks at the back which can be copied. This is always welcome if you haven't bought the starter set or the token set yet, as you can make your own if you are old fashioned like me! Overall a fantastic Tank on tank game that works well with either Warlords own 28mm tanks or can easily work for smaller 15mm or even bigger Tank models for some Hero detail.”
