This has to be one of the easiest and best two-player games ever! Star Realms from White Wizard Games takes a couple of minutes to set-up and learn and then provides so much fun that you will want to play again and again, straight after finishing the first bout.
It includes the classic deck builder mechanism where you both start off with the same cards and shuffle, deal and build your space arsenal from there. There are four different factions that you can buy up as and when they become available in the a market. Each of them giving you different advantages and abilities. You’re free to buy any of the cards from any factions but the more of one faction you have helps you in chaining card abilities together for a longer and stronger attack.
Your health starts out at 50 and is knocked down or healed up using the clever double-sided Health Point cards. Space Bases and defences will help you a long the way, that is until your opponent delivers the motherland of an attack and destroys them and injures as well in the process.
What to play this game with four of you? No problem, buy and extra pack and add them both together as this game scales for complete galactic carnage! A good recommendation on this would be to get Star Realms and Colony Wars (its sequel) and smash them together!
The art and design is on point, keeping the players immersed in the sci-fi theme, and with so many smaller expansions for this game that bring in new twists and space blob turns, this is a game with tons of cosmic replay-ability within it. So much game for so small a price tag! Do it!

“I enjoy this game so much that this has been my second purchase of Star Realms, this time as a gift. Although it's a game that has been around for a while it hasn't aged. It's a fun deck-building game with (if you hadn't guessed) a space theme. Many small expansion packs help to give twists to the original game (some co-operative) and although it's a 2 player game it can be expanded to 3,4,5 & 6. The game starts with opponents having the same cards in their deck and 5 in hand except for the lead player who has 3 cards in hand (to negate advantage) for their first turn. But as you are straight into purchasing from the off, decks quickly start to differ. There are 4 factions each of which have slightly different effects, from card cycling to attack to drawing extra cards, to scrapping and boosting Authority. These can also affect your opponent. You are purchasing from the same trade row and you don't have to stick to one faction. Making choices of which cards you want and which you want to deny opponents can lead to difficult choices. I like the strategy and difference between each match as I try to mix up the emphasis of each faction. It is infinitely replayable and with all the expansions this turns into quite a collection. Luckily there is a storage box sold separately to keep them in. This really is one of those games that is easy to set up and play but hard to master.”

“Quick and easy game to learn, doesn't take long to play so ideal for lunchbreaks and and times when you have less that an hour. Allows for quite tactical play, particarly if you have multiple packs and 3 to 6 players. It also has the advantage of being very portable, one deck fitting in a pocket or side pocket of your bag.”

“Star Realms is a fantastic two player deck building game. Both players start with the same weak decks and using those cards chip away at each other's health while slowly improving their decks with new cards. Thanks to the red faction you can thin your deck down to a pleasing machine by regularly scrapping weaker cards. It has been constantly updated with small and larger expansions bringing new ideas and new ways to play. A good affordable game that will give you plenty back for the money.”

“Great portable little game, quick to learn but with enough complexity that it will take a while to get good at it. My whole family are enjoying it (young teenagers, boy and girl). Good entry into deck building games.”
