“A very enjoyable light states of siege game with some decent historical chrome. Probably my favourite in this category. Rules are straightforward and accessible with plenty of optional extras once you are happy with the main game. The tie in with Hapsburg Eclipse is nice but maybe a bit too much of this game feels like it depends on owning HE to play, taking up space that could have been given to more variants. Like all SoS games, there is perhaps a little doubt in terms of how much influence you can really have on the outcome, but it's diverting and educational.”
