Great game. Looks complex on first appearances but actually quite easy to pick up. Excellent as a two player.

I was given Wingspan for my birthday and we played it for the first time yesterday- we enjoyed it so much that we're playing it again tonight! We used the first-time player guides as none of us had played it before and it makes life so much easier- all games should include these! These guides give you the actions for your first four turns (which makes up half of the first round), then leaves you to finish the rest of the game yourself. This let us become familiar with the game, and we didn't need to check the rules once during the entire game. I was a bit worried at first as there looked to be a lot of parts and information on the cards. But it's easier to play than it looks and you're always prompted so that you can find the right bit of information easily. Even the people that usually struggle to learn the rules of a new game, and can find the first time playing a new game stressful, said that they really enjoyed it last night which was really nice to see. It's also a surprisingly tactile game- even the rules feel absolutely amazing, plus the artwork is lovely. It just feels really good quality. My only complaint would be that, like many games, the writing on the cards is a little small and was difficult to read for some members of our group.

Another brilliant game from Stonemaier. Out of the box it looks quite complex and can be daunting, but once you start playing it turns into a reasonably simple card driven game that is engaging and has some seriously impressive components and artwork.

Engaging game and beautiful artwork. Seems complex at first but only really takes one run through to learn.

One of the most highly rated games of the year. Wingspan absolutely lives up to the hype! The production quality is through the roof but the gameplay too is incredibly engaging, a mid weight engine builder that accommodates 1 to 5 players and plays in about an hour, Wingspan is highly addictive and with multiple randomly drawn objectives and 170 unique bird cards has decent replayability (that won’t stop us buying the expansion when it comes out later this year though!). It sees a lot of time at our table and we highly recommend it.

A really good game that lives up to the hype. Wonderfully themed with wild birds means it adds a breath of fresh air to any gaming group. Quick to learn, and fast to play (only 4 rounds of up to 8 moves each), an euro, engine-building game at heart, with very light competition between players. Instantly replayable.
