“A lot of the more recent expansions added a lot of complexity to what is quite a simple game at heart. Allies adds enough complexity to take Dominion to the next level without being overwhelming. The main additions to the game are ally cards and favours but these are only needed for games that use the liason kingdom card type so you can add them when you're ready. Allies also brings back split pile kingdom cards and distance cards from previous expansions. This is a good first expansion for anyone who wants more than Intrigue or a great next step without getting too deep into lots of extra mechanics.”

“Another great expansion to a great game. It has lots of cards which give you options, which means it plays nicely with existing expansions. You also get even more metal coins. The box art is beautiful, the best one yet in my opinion.”

“This is an excellent expansion of the brilliant dominion game. Some really strong kingdom cards, including special split piles with different groups of cards that can be rotated. It also introduces favours, a new type of currency used only to buy Ally cards (a bit like event cards) and earned from Liason kingdom cards. This feels like one of the better expansions, and will appeal in particular to seasoned players.”
