Welcome to Mysterium Park!

Its cotton candies, its circus, its dark secrets...
The park’s former director has disappeared, but the investigation came to nothing. Since that night, weird things are happening on the fairground. As psychics, you’re convinced that a ghost haunts this carnival... You’re now intent on giving it a chance to reveal the truth.

In this cooperative stand-alone game, the ghost sends visions with illustrated cards. The psychics try to interpret them in order to rule out certain suspects and locations. Then, they’ll seize their only chance to piece together what happened to the director. You have only six nights before the carnival leaves town... Open your minds and find the truth!

Set in the lights of a 1950's US fairground, Mysterium Park shares the same core mechanism with the famous award-winning game it reimplements, though bringing a different approach: it is smaller and faster, thanks to very quick setup and simplified rules.

Mysterium is a milestone in immersive and eye-catching experiences close to role-playing; with Mysterium Park, you can enjoy the heart of it in a more condensed way.

It's a beautiful game, cleverly fitted into a compact box. We really liked the concept but struggled with the game, especially the location stage. The 'ghost' routinely didn't feel they had any cards that would be good clues for any of the locations. We made better progress and had more fun when we used the full set of 5 psychics - but still never got through the location stage.

I had a lot of fun with Mysterium Park while isolating with COVID. I enjoy board games but am not super into strategy and so it was a really nice change to have a game which is instead very intuitive and revolves around symbols as opposed to more traditional games I've tried. It was pretty low-key to play and I've enjoyed re-playing it several times already. It also has the benefit of being playable by just two people as well as a bigger group, which is a huge plus for me.

This is a gift for my daughter, something she requested, so I'm sure she will enjoy it very much.

Our games group love the original Mysterium and so were excited to try out Mysterium Park, but unfortunately it proved to be rather disappointing. The exciting thing about Mysterium is the amount of love that went into it: the wonderful pieces such as the ghost screen, the clock, and even a music soundtrack to add some atmosphere. Mysterium Park, although a lot of love went into the artwork on the cards, is missing all of these nice extras. It’s a very pared-down experience and feels like a “budget” or “travel” version of the real thing. One thing I did appreciate about Mysterium Park is that the ghost is trying to get the players to eliminate suspects and locations, by showing them clues to an innocent person or a red herring location. Story-wise, this makes a lot more sense than the original Mysterium, in which the ghost is apparently a liar, telling each player a different way in which they were murdered! However, Mysterium Park adds a completely pointless mechanic by adding a “witness” in each round, which goes absolutely nowhere. It also spoils the whole “ghost can’t speak” rule, because the ghost has to say “you found the witness, try again.” Not to mention in the second round, one of the LOCATIONS is a witness, which makes absolutely zero sense. Overall, it’s just a disappointing experience, with all the missing components, and the weapon round missing, it just feels like half a game. Maybe it would be more accessible to children than the full game, but that’s about it. The only nice thing the game gives you is a board, which would have been nice in the original game. Just buy Mysterium and its expansions.
