Arkham Horror: The Card Game is a cooperative card game in the vein of Lovecraftian horror. As the Ancient Ones seek entry to our world, one to two investigators work to unravel arcane mysteries and conspiracies.Their efforts determine not only the course of your game, but carry forward throughout whole campaigns, challenging them to overcome their personal demons even as Arkham Horror: The Card Game blurs the distinction between the card game and roleplaying experiences.

Order ID 5204194 Great fun although very complicated at first (we resorted to a lot of youtube tutorials...). Card art is wonderful and the three scenarios are atmospheric, very different to play and difficult! We loved it and have already started to buy the expansions.

Just as they say game worth the hype. Immersive story driven experience. I would only desire to have more scenarios available as replay-ability is questionable.

There’s quite a lot to take when you first sit down to play but once you get your head around it, it opens up a rather gruesome, but beautifully designed, world of opportunities.

Arkham Horror: The Card Game is another in the long line of Fantasy Flight games based in their Lovecraftian inspired world. Following from the likes of the original Arkham Horror, Mansions of Madness (1st and 2nd editions), Elder Sign and Eldritch Horror, I was expecting a lot from this game and wasn't disappointed. The game is a card driven game, with no traditional board, although the location cards do form a map. The core game can be played with 2 players or solo (4 players can be accommodated if two core sets are used). To summarise, each player takes the role of an investigator, all of whom will be familiar to players of the other Fantasy Flight 'Arkham' games. Each investigator has different strengths and weaknesses and starts with a deck of abilities, which could include assets and allies to assist them, skills to enhance their success or maybe even a weakness. Each investigator is sufficiently unique with some focussing on investigation, others fighting, some on magic etc. As the game progresses, the players find themselves working against the clock to complete the various scenarios. They will have many obstacles to overcome including location problems, strange events and creatures, intent on destroying the investigators physically and mentally. The actions of the investigators will lead to different endings to each scenario which may then impact the following scenario. This also leads to one of the major plusses of the game, the deck building. Each investigator can build his own deck (within certain parameters) and as each scenario is completed they will gain experience and purchase stronger cards for their decks. The core set contains three scenarios for the players to complete. Once these are complete, Fantasy Flight are releasing new sets containing multiple scenarios followed by single scenario packs on a roughly monthly basis. If you enjoy the previous Fantasy Flight Arkham games, then you should also like this one, its dripping with theme, and the added attraction of a strong solo mode is a big plus.
