Welcome to Small World, more people than space, so all that can happen now is rivalry for control of what little there is. Within Small World there are 14 different races and 20 different powers. At the start of the game, each player will choose a random combination of race and power allowing different changes to the game and a different amount of race tokens. Each round a player will claim territory with their race tokens and score points based on how many they have conquered. Eventually, each player will run out of race tokens and will have no choice but to send their race into decline, they will no longer be able to expand their influence across Small World (Unless you are the Ghouls!) and on their next turn they will choose a new random combination of race and power to conquer more lands and gain more points. A game of Small World takes place over a set number of rounds based the number of players in the game. (Even the board is different based on the number of players.) The races are classic fantasy: Wizards, sorcerers, orcs, skeletons, ghouls, trolls, amazons, elves, dwarves . Others are not so classic, like the Ratmen and Tritons. Each race has their own power; the Amazons can conquer more with four additional race tokens, the Sorcerers can convert lone enemy race tokens to their cause and the Dwarves get a bonus victory point for each region with a mine they control. Likewise, each power that can be combined with the races is unique. Alchemists gain extra points each turn, wealthy gain seven victory points when chosen, pillaging races gain an extra victory point for each region they conquer that already has other race tokens in them. Swamp races gain extra victory points from swamp regions they control. Other powers include; Fortified, diplomat, commando, forest, spirit and more! Will you be the diplomatic skeletons, the swamp elves, bivouacking ghouls or even the spirit humans the choices are yours, it's a World of (s)laughter after all! Player Count: 2-5 Time: 40-90 Minutes Age: 8+

My husband loves this game, and it has had multiple plays since we bought it. I'm not really a fan, hence the 4/5 rating.

A Small World but a big game with almost infinite variations. The endless combinations you can have of different races and different powers make it different every time. Also the way you're not stuck with one Race/Power combo for ever as your civilisation declines and you can start another!

Interesting game with lots of variation. First couple of times playing are quite long/slow and some players lose interest towards the end of the game.

Great game, easy to pick up. I find my 10 year old getting very competitive and somehow manages to always have the upper hand. Love how there is so much variety in game play and how things get switched up. We've played it with adults and with children and it was really enjoyable. For me Playing as a 2 player didnt have the same appeal as playing with 3 or 4 as the more people attacking you made game play more exciting.
