Take control of one of the great cities of the ancient world. Gather resources, develop commercial routes and affirm your military supremacy. Build your city and erect an architectural wonder which will transcend future times! 7 Wonders, one of the most acclaimed board games ever, returns with a gorgeous new edition. WHAT'S NEW? • The game received a complete visual redesign. The cover, the cards' design, the Wonders, the insert: everything was redesigned! • The rules have been entirely revised to make them more easily accessible to new players. Gone are the long pages to read; we now have an 8-page booklet that’s much easier to understand straight away! The player aid has also been fully redesigned. • Card layout has been improved, which allows for information to be more easily read. The guild cards, spread out over the many 7 Wonders expansions, have been consolidated and added to the new basegame. • Steps have been taken to improve immersion through the game's titular theme - the Wonders themselves! The Wonders have been made bigger and more prominent, and their A and B sides have been replaced by a day side and a night side for a more flavourful experience. Both the base game and the expansions are also moving to larger, standard-sized boxes. • Taking inspiration from chaining system from 7 Wonders Duel; instead of using named structures for chaining, the cards now have symbols. This streamlines chaining and makes it more intuitive. • Thanks to symbols discreetly inserted in the contents of the game, 7 Wonders and its expansions are now adapted for colourblind players. ABOUT THE GAME You are the leader of one of the 7 great cities of the Ancient World. Gather resources, develop commercial routes, and affirm your military supremacy. Build your city and erect an architectural wonder which will transcend future times. 7 Wonders lasts three ages. In each age, players receive seven cards from a particular deck, choose one of those cards, then pass the remainder to an adjacent player. Players reveal their cards simultaneously, paying resources if needed or collecting resources or interacting with other players in various ways. (Players have individual boards with special powers on which to organise their cards, and the boards are double-sided). Each player then chooses another card from the deck they were passed, and the process repeats until players have six cards in play from that age. After three ages, the game ends. In essence, 7 Wonders is a card development game. Some cards have immediate effects, while others provide bonuses or upgrades later in the game. Some cards provide discounts on future purchases. Some provide military strength to overpower your neighbours and others give nothing but victory points. Each card is played immediately after being drafted, so you'll know which cards your neighbour is receiving and how his choices might affect what you've already built up. Cards are passed left-right-left over the three ages, so you need to keep an eye on the neighbours in both directions.

This is a great game, perfect for our monthly games nights. We played just with adults, but it would be suitable for older children. I will definitely be taking it next time we have a family games night. It seems quite complicated at first, but once you've played a couple of times, you get the hang of it. We watched a YouTube tutorial on how to play which really helped. The more we played, the more we realised you could strategise in different ways. I would definitely recommend.

The first thing that you notice about this game is the beautiful art work and aesthetic which is very appealing. There is a QR code included in the box which links to a instructions video. If you want any chance if understanding the game, even at a basic level, then at least one person (preferably young and sober!) should watch and absorb this. The first play of the game was fairly chaotic and confusing, however, we all soon got the hang of it and we could see that there is potential for this game to be a real family favourite. It is a game that you will get more out of the more time you play, as you will develop strategies and get to know the cards and their worth. The first game took ages but once we’d got the hang of it, we could easily finish a game in less than half an hour, although this would take longer with more people. In summary, this game is a bit difficult to get your head around at first but soon becomes enjoyable and strangely addictive the more you play it. We would have liked to have seen a bit of fun information about each of the 7 wonders, which strangely aren’t even named on the cards.

A game of trial and tribulations when facing conflict and friendship. The boardgame is recommended for at least three people aged 10+. The games has a stack of metallic coloured cards in bronze, silver and gold that are illustrated beautifully on the other side. There are player beautifully illustrated cards that show different eras and reigns with the wonder symbols. There defensive counters and coins. There game has three levels. I will recommend to follow the guidelines and watch the YouTube video. I found the game at first confusing but then competitive, a great game to play with others. I was gifted this boardgame but this is an honest review.

7 wonders is a wonderfully strategic game with a variety of ways of 'winning' with no real losers. there are plenty of twists and turns. The overall game play is one to be marvelled with each piece / resource being a building block for another. Like all games, it will take a few times to get the hang of it but once you do, its a great family fun filled evening !

7 Wonders is a card drafting strategy game: each player is dealt 7 cards, they pick one, play it on their board, pass the rest to the next player and so on, with the objective to build a little economy around one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. Drafting is repeated over 3 Eras, with cards growing in cost and effectiveness from one to the other. Players score points at the end of the game by creating an efficient combination of cards, similar to many other engine building games, but there are a few things that make this game particularly enjoyable to me: the rules are not very complicated and the iconography very clear, so it's not intimidating or complicated to explain to new players; at the same time there is enough variety in the possible strategies for seasoned players to enjoy it. This is also one of the rare strategy games that plays up to 7 people and runs equally well at all player counts, thanks to the fact that everyone is performing their card selection and actions at the same time; even in a 7 player game there is very little downtime. A friend described it as "a chain of 3 player games", as most of the interaction happens between each player and the ones on either side, but this also means that there's no need to keep track of what everyone else is doing in great detail, focussing instead on the immediate neighbours. The only two minor things I would like to see improved in future revisions are additional but more concise reference cards (the ones provided are very detailed, but also bigger than the player boards!) and more card dividers in the insert: each era needs to have a balanced set of cards, so most of the setup time is spent sorting cards to remove specific ones not required for a given player count. The box is large enough to accommodate 16 thinner vertical slots instead of the current 3 large ones, which would make setup a breeze. We played this game with family and friends and it was great fun! It is suitable for grown ups and older children (the box suggests age 10+ but if your kids enjoy puzzles and/or games, I think 7+ is suitable). It’s a strategic resource deck game, where you play and pass your hand. As such, there are a variety of play styles. The rules may seem complicated initially but it’s quite straight forward after one game. There are many ways to score and the balanced scoring always makes this a close game. Each game take around 30-40 minutes to play. The only negative is the size of the box. It is a lot larger than it needs to be. As such, it is not travel sized. Others have said in other reviews that their Age I deck is missing. This is not the case. The cards are wrapped in two packs; one pack contains cards from Ages I and II, and the other contains cards from the Ages II and III. As such, the top of the wrapped decks show Age II and Age III, which makes it look like Age I is missing. Disclaimer: I received this product for free to play and review, but this is an honest review. I do not receive any benefit for giving a good review.

I received this product for free but this is an honest review. At first I was terrified by the instructions, they are quite complicated, but we watched a few tutorials and played a few open hands to learn the rules and scoring system. There are scoring apps which made it easier. We enjoyed the game as a family our 7 year old managed to learn how to play it. There are lots of different routes to success so each time is a different game, still not too sure how to build a wonder but we had fun playing it without doing that.

So first off, this game looks a little bit intimidating and scary to get started. The box is amazing, and the pieces look great but also a little worried to get started. So we worked together with YouTube videos to see exactly what we needed to do, which pieces we needed and didn’t we all understand how to play Once you get confident, it's a great game. Definitely for older, not for kids-my daughter did try but couldn’t get to grips with it Once you understand how to play, it's all about strategy and playing your best hand. We found this a great game as you honestly can't go wrong. It's 3 players plus to start, so a great excuse to grab a friend or two round for a get-together. I love how it's different from other games and not an easy, boring game. Loved building empires and having a bit of a complex game to get into. Even if it took us a few goes to get our heads around lol! This will be well-loved and a great excuse for a catch-up with friends. Give yourself a good couple of hours when first starting to play to work it out
