Splendor, a game suitable for 2-4 players, is a fast paced, gem drafting, card development game that see players take on the role of gem merchants, battling through the renaissance to mine raw materials, transform them into precious stones and then sell them on to the rich and affluent. In Splendor, published by Space Cowboys, you must build your might and worth and attempt to dominate the market as you use your resources to purchase stronger and more expensive cards with the gems you already have. If you're lucky, you work may even catch the eye of one of the nobles, and they may just pay you a visit, adding to your prestige points pool. Each turn, a player may choose to either take three different coloured gems, two of the same colour (as long as there are two gems left in the stack), purchase a card or reserve a card. Using these four moves, you must construct a strategy that will give you an advantage and make increase your wealth, allowing you to access those stronger cards while also increasing your prestige. The first player to 15 prestige points will bring the game to a close but be warned, as soon as 15 or more prestige points are obtained by a player, the game is played for one more round so you may just find yourself losing to a player that had planned a big move before your declared your 15 prestige points. Splendor encourages the use of cunning strategies and devious moves and this creates a game that plays wonderfully well. The colourful and detailed artwork makes this a must have for any board game collection and will have players wanting to play again and again. Player Count: 2-4 Time: 30 Minutes Age: 10+

A little bit too abstracted for me. No connection between the gameplay and the theme. However is a great game to play with people new to the hobby and the poker discs are amazing

Splendor is a really great game to get if you are new to the hobby. With easy to learn rules you can jump straight into this game. The quality of the gem tokens make it fun to play and I loved the trading and card building mechanics. This game plays really well with and 2 and with 4. With a game of 4 the turn taking can be longer then usual as you fight over the cards in the market. It did take me a while to warm to Splendor but that could be because I've never won it! Glad I kept playing as it is now one of my favourites. Not the best game to look at aesthetically though.

A really simple game in many ways but I was surprised as to how many routes to winning there were. All you do throughout the game is collect jewels in order to buy better jewels that are worth victory points. Every jewel card you buy also becomes permanent so you can use it to buy other cards turn after turn, first to 15 points triggers the end of the game and the most points wins. Very simple but much more fun that I was expecting from a ‘classic’ game,

Who loves chunky poker chips - me! and this is a great resource management game where you are trying to build up an engine to evetually sway a lord and get yourself to 15 points.

A deceptively simple puzzle game of resource management and tile collection. Each turn you can choose which currency you need and which tiles you'd like to purchase. But with a limited amount of gems available, choose your moves wisely or miss out. Perfect coffee table game that doesn't take up much room and doesn't take long to play
