EXIT - The Abandoned Cabin Reviews

4.6 Rating 11 Reviews
Read Zatu Games Reviews

Everyone meant to use the cabin only as a shelter for the night, but come the morning the door has been secured by a combination lock, with no one knowing the combination of numbers that will let them leave. The windows are barred as well. An enigmatic spinning code dial and a mysterious book is all that you have to go on. Can you escape from this abandoned cottage? In Exit: The Game – The Abandoned Cabin, players must use their team spirit, creativity, and powers of deduction to crack codes, solve puzzles, collect objects, and earn their freedom bit by bit.

We've done a few of these now and this one is one of the better ones. Good theme and nice riddles at a challenging but not stretching it level - looking forward to trying "the return tot he abandoned cabin!".

Fun evening activity. Hard enough to keep us engaged, but never felt impossible to complete. We didn't mess with the materials so I can gift the game forward to a friend to play.

This is the first EXIT game we've tried and thank goodness we had our two 20something children to help us. A great entry into these "Escape Room" games. We actually think three is the optimal number of players, as otherwise you can't really share the book and cards very easily. Please note these games don't HAVE to be "single use" - we've played two so far without writing directly on the booklet or cutting things up (just draw what you need on a separate piece of paper/card). It is very environmentally wasteful to throw the whole lot away after just one game, and as a bonus it means we can pass them on to family and friends.

I wasn't sure how this would work out, but it's a brilliantly designed little gem. Some of the puzzles may appear a little obtuse and may be a struggle for younger players if they're on their own. And some of the other puzzles are brilliant. I obviously can't say anything without giving them away! While it may seem expensive for something you can only play once, I feel it's actually a good price for a 1-2 hour experience with a few family members or friends. And if you wanted, you could always make sure to not mark any of the pieces so you could pass it on to someone else (although that may make solving some of the puzzles a little awkward, but not impossible). I really to recommend this.
