“Homeix hub is a breath of fresh air, powerful, well thought out , great dashboards, to name but a few.
Quite frankly the best hub I have ever had, the competition will need to think hard as to where they go from here.”
“If you are looking for a 'simple, out-of-the-box Home Assistant solution' then you have found it.
Power it up, network it and you are ready to start. Simplicity personified with Z Wave and Zigbee radios built-in you can start adding devices straight away. After using Raspberry Pi's and similar for years-this is now my new Go To for Home Assistant installations.
Powerful enough to handle most installations it runs silently and doesn't get too warm.
Great product. Particularly love the slim mounting bracket allowing me to wall mount the unit easily. I power mine via a PoE adaptor which works well and keeps the cabling tidy and frees up a PowerPoint.
The aesthetically pleasing unit doesn't look out of place with its colourful LED feedback light on the front face.”
“Great product backed up with home assistant operating system which is brilliant at integrating with virtually all home automation and beyond. The migration from raspberry pi was easy via backups and this is really easy to set up.”
“A truly great product - you'd not know that this is a beta! I have used several HA systems over the last 10 years, from Fibaro HC2 to what I was using until very recently; Homeseer. Homeseer was great, but a bit of a walled garden, and in my case heavily dependent on Windows (urgh). This is my first use of Home Assistant, and having an 'all in one' hub made sense for simplicity. The built in Z-Wave and Zigbee functionality is great - I have a bug Z wave network and with Homeseer I had to have a separate device whereas it's all built in here. Built in Bluetooth would be a welcome addition - I'm currently looking for a compatible dongle - the first I tried didn't work.
In summary, a great effort and well worth buying if you're considering switching to Home Assistant.”
“I purchased this product when it was released, as it was advertised as using Homeassistant and MQTT out of the box.
My current setup was a Hubitat for some Zigbee devices and a Raspberry Pi running Homeassistant providing a user interface. In addition, I had a separate Zigbee dongle attached providing access to the devices that could not pair with Hubitat. The Raspberry Pi was also an MQTT broker for an RF to MQTT receiver for old lightwave devices that were installed in the house.
The Homeix spec looked like it would be a good replacement for both the Hubitat and Rasberry Pi.
The Homeix was nicely presented in the box it was supplied in and included a back plate to allow it to be wall mounted which was a nice addition. So far I have not been disappointed with the Homeix, it worked out of the box, powered on and loaded to the Homeassistant default screen, and from there it was easy to start the zigbee2mqtt app to start searching for my Zigbee devices. I have now transferred all Zigbee devices to the Homeix, and set up all automations I had previously. It is very responsive with near-instant switching of devices. I have no ZWAVE devices so cannot comment on this function of the Homeix. It is early days with this hub but from initial experience with it, I would highly recommend the Homeix.”
“I'm writing this before having thoroughly exercised this, but on first impression it looks like a great little box running HomeAssistant. I actually bought it thinking it was just (essentially) a protocol converter to MQTT, but it's a fully fledged HA server with what seems like ZWave and Zigbee receivers (I think).
At the moment this is technically just 'acceptable' (3 stars) but I predict it will land at 'good' (4 stars) so that's what I'm giving it. The main reason being I really wanted a bit more control over network segregation and this box is designed to be a bit more simple I suspect. Will see how it goes!”
“An excellent "out of the box" solution that has upgraded the system seamlessly, providing a future-proof platform.
Many legacy devices have transferred and monitoring of each has vastly improved as multiple dashboards can easily be created using the pre-installed Home Assistant software. Addons are easily installed giving remote access, automatic cloud backup, and Alexa/Google voice control (all working well). All Network and media devices were discovered automatically and can be selected (or excluded) as required.
This has been an upgrade I have needed to make for some time. So far, so good!”
“The Vesternet HOMEIX hub is very similar to an existing hub that I use for Home Assistant, but with the addition of Z-Wave support and the latest version of Zigbee. Migrating my existing Home Assistant automations etc from one device to the other has been tricky. It would be handy if the HOMEIX hub arrived with a full backup having been done in case the user needs to restore it to the state it arrived in (I forgot to immediately do a backup before starting to try it out) – hopefully Vesternet will start doing that. Built-in Bluetooth would have been nice, but that’s presumably easily added via a dongle (mine is due to arrive today). I’m not sure whether storage can be expanded, particularly if there is a Bluetooth dongle plugged in already. Otherwise, this is a good unit for getting started with Home Assistant.”
