“Installed two SRT323 in a holiday home 3 months ago, connected to Homeseer via and Aeotec zwave stick.
Good:
1. Inclusion was pretty straight forward;
2. Temperature reporting is accurate;
3. TPI keeps the temperature within +/-1 degree of the set point;
4. It was an easy drop in replacement for the previous wired thermostat.
Bad:
1. It is battery powered in a wired thermostat, which means it is a sleeping device; so
a. Remote setting is very flaky (sometimes) to not working (usually);
b. The display shows the set point and you have to press to get the current temperature which is the wrong way round;
c. It doesn't act as a zwave repeater so adds no strength to the zwave mesh network.
2. the manufacturer doesn't appear to provide any firmware updates, so there is no prospect of it getting better.
At the time of writing (Dec 17) I couldn't find anything better to wire into an existing system.
In summary, it works for 'home monitoring', but because you cannot reliably change the set point remotely it doesn't work for 'home management'.”
“Had this installed for less than 2 weeks in which time I've had re-add to My network 3 times. This combined with a bad design has led to an electrical pin falling out (luckily not an important one). Temperature setting from the network is very much hit and miss too. Will be reverting back to my manual thermostat over the weekend and then seeking a refund.”
“Quite apart from the z-wave capability, this wired room stat keeps the house very close to the set-point due to the TPI technology. It does a better job than the digital room stat it replaced. Using the z-wave technology I have made it turn up the temperature in the morning, reduce the temperature when I go out, and return it to normal when I come back. I will be adding more such scenarios; I don't need a self-learning one, I'm capable of programming my own.”
“I'll update this once I know more, but so far the functionality I want (to control my heating remotely when I'm away from home) is not working. I believe this is a "handler" issue but that means I now need to get into the whole murky world of handlers and I've only started reading on that so far.
It does connect to and talk to my hub but it does not respond to commands (like change the set temperature) from the hub (Smartthings).
But I've given it 4 stars already because as a stand-alone thermostat it is already a huge step forward from my 25 year old classic! It has TPI which I'd not heard of but which intelligently switches the boiler on and off based on a prediction that the hot radiators will get the room to temperature so it can switch off the boiler early and let the remaining heat in the radiators do the work. So I'm seeing much more level (constant) room temperatures (more comfortable) and I'm guessing it is going to save gas.
Like I say I'll update this once I get into installing a non-default handler.”
“The device works correctly with Vera Plus, the customer service had to remotely change the parameters to hide the buttons OFF / AUTO / HEAT / COOL that are not supported by the device.
No problem so far with the network or others.
With this device you can only set the temperature, you cannot turn of/on/auto.”
“Have been using this thermostat with Fibaro HC2 for around 4 months now and so far no problems at all. Very easy to install as direct replacement for Honeywell CM927 battery powered thermostat. Included in network and created three devices - thermostat for setting the set point, temperature sensor and current status (heating or off). Connected to two wires to boiler for dry contact on/off and battery is still strong even with 5 minute wake up intervals to fetch remote temperature settings.
Will be buying another for second heating zone. Admittedly, Nest is nicer looking but would highly recommend for more-affordable, easy to install, Z Wave alternative!”
“I've had one of these for a few months now. 4 times now it has dropped off the network and I cannot repair. Instead I must delete the device and re-add it. The last time was just over 1 week before it dropped. It's only 6 meters away from the hub and I also have a repeater about the same distance away. I have other devices the other side of my house with no issues at all. Currently very disappointed....”
“This was not obvious to me from the description on the website, but if you're expecting this Secure Z-Wave Thermostat to control a Secure Z-Wave Boiler receiver then you're out of luck: it doesn't. For that application, you need the SRT321 instead (which is also cheaper). If you're *wiring* this directly in replacement of an existing wired thermostat then it works fine. But this really needs to be made clearer on the website description.”
