“Just got the SSR302 from Vesternet and it's a terrific unit. My SSR302 is replacing manual Drayton Lifestyle Timer/Programmer for my radiators and hot water. Both the Drayton and SSR302 use the same backplate which made installation really easy and fast. Also my wiring on my system matched so no rewiring either.
I am using the SSR302 on Domoticz running on a Raspberry Pi and it works flawlessly. Including the SSR302 was easy and it appears as 4 devices in Domoticz. 2 x Thermostat Mode devices (Zone 1 and 2) and 2 x Switches (Zone 1 and Zone 2).
Controlling the SSR302 from Domoticz is really easy just turn on/off the Switches for ether Zone 1 or Zone. When using it like this the SSR302 will NOT enter failsafe mode. This is great as usually the device needs to be re-confirmed with repeated ON signals otherwise. So no need to use delays, scripts or any other logic control. So it possible to use Domoticz timers straight from the switch for the zone 1 or 2.
Controlling the SSR302 from Domoticz using the the Thermostat modes as two options for each zone, OFF and HEAT. Setting to heat will also switch on the zone however as this is a thermostat mode operation if no further request for HEAT is made the unit enter failsafe mode for that zone and switches of that zone.
One final point the SSR302 doesn't report back the Zone on/off status if manually switched on at the devices by pressing the green and red buttons. Do fix this just make sure you "Enable Polling" in Domoticz for the device and this will fix that issue.”
“Vera found it and set it up. Nice ICon picture. Easy to set temp manually or via Vera. Used it for large zone underfloor heating control, so good to see readout of temp.”
“This is a great product, I have used one since it was first launched to control my boiler.
The original failed with a Big Bang and I rejected two replacements because they had faults. I ordered in stock from Germany to ensure a different supply chain. The part was clearly new and had a serial number on it, the UK stock was not serialised. Draw your own conclusions.”
“This item was bought in a bundle with the Secure single-channel receiver.
They work together without any Z-Wave controller, which was exactly what I was looking for, as I'm not yet ready to take the leap to Z-Wave.
They "paired" perfectly, using the clear and faultless instructions, and are working well.
When I update my conventional wall thermostats, they will definitely be from the Secure range.”
“Well I struggled to get this working properly because I didn't understand what TPI was or how it worked. My bad.
Imported drivers form SmartyThings and everything works just fine.
I used to write code to control the room temperatures but now I didn't have to as TPI does it all and gets better and better as it learns.”
“I brought this item to enable me to control my central heating and hot water via z-wave but I did not know that it is designed to work with the secure room thermostat. I was unable to get it to work reliably so I have put it back in its box and will never use it. Just another waste of money. I made my own unit that works perfectly.”
“I have used one of these as my boiler controller for several years, working well.
One technical point worth noting is that the unit times out after 45 mins (switches the HW/CH off) if it is not kept updated with the current state required (it's a 'safety feature' I believe). In other words your controller needs to send the HW on or CH on command at regular intervals e.g. every 15 mins. Sending the ON command once at the scheduled ON time (or manually) is not enough.
The VeraLite does not allow this natively so I had to use the PLEC plugin and write some logic to achieve this.”
