“This thing is the eighth wonder of the world. It is so versatile and easy to use. Deducted one star but the problem might well be with Vera Plus - the buttons don't match the scene activation numbers within Vera. For exmaple, to set it to activate based on single-press of button 6, you'd think that would be to activate scene 6 on single-press trigger. Nope, you need to activate scene 11 on single-press trigger. There's a table on the Vera forums at http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=47660.0 which covers all the combinations and what scene mappings will work with this remote. All in all, a fantastic little device which is easy to use.”
“Just received this item and paired with Fibaro Home Center 2 with no problems. Device can be configured to trigger scenes very easily and appears with four trigger options per button in the scenes menu - pressed, double click and held down.
Very impressed so far and have set it up to work with Philips Hue and other scenes. Will be buying more for other rooms in the house.”
“Instructions could be better, or maybe that's just me. But once in and working, it's pretty faultless. The 1 / 2 presses works just fine on my Vera Light. I think if I was going to be picky, it would be nice to get some method of labelling the buttons. There are some pre-printed labels included but they don't cover all eventualities, and don't seem to have any actual match to the buttons in terms of size and shape. Recommended on the whole I shall be buying more”
“Received my controller this morning and had it up and running in no time. I set it up on a Vera Plus Controller running UI7 firmware 1.7.1754
As stated by the other reviewers, this device is small and neat and would meet the ‘Wife Acceptance Factor’ in most homes.
The Vera seems to allow two button press options (plus a low battery scene option) using single or double press but unfortunately the double press option does not work, at least not with this firmware version. Currently a double push is treated as two single pushes which limits you to 8 scenes . Hopefully, later versions of the Vera firmware will resolve this issue.
Creation of scenes for this device is simple and it is easy to check which scene is attached to each buttonThe stickers provided for the buttons leave a lot to be desired but they do at least show what can be done with a bit of thought.”
“received my 2 controllers today , they are perfect , i included them in my zwave network as secondary controllers to my homeseer and i'm very happy with them . with homeseer i can actually activate 3 scenes per button which is total of 12 scenes not 8 as advertised , i believe i don't need more than 12 scenes in one area of the house . Not sure if it can be used as a scene controller and a light controller / dimmer at the same time but will check this option and maybe update my review . I would recommend it to anyone . and as the other reviews said it's very light and thin . Can be mounted anywhere and looks like a regular wall switch”
“I'm happy to write that I was pleasantly surprised by this little controller. First off, it is little. It is smaller than the images suggest which was great. I set mine up with the HC2 and inclusion was very straight forward. To setup each button you create a scene and use the various button options as your trigger.
Here there was a second unexpected surprise, there are multiple button presses available. The official line is the remotec supports two (short and long press) but the fibaro appears to offer 5 different button options. I don't think this means you can have 40 actions (8 physical buttons X 5 virtual button actions) but it does offer alternative button actions.
I have mine setup with 16 actions including hue integration and it works seamlessly. The final surprise for me was this little device can act as a stand alone controller. While I won't give up the HC2 for it, it does offer a cost effective solution for remote installations where your zwave network cannot extend to such as a shed down the back of your garden or a separate garage.
I do agree with the other review here that the option to swap out buttons or provide the ability to add your own custom backing is a missed opportunity. There are some clear stickers included but they are rather limited. All in all it is a recommended purchase.”
“Working reliably to change scenes and control individual lights. Device handler available on smartthings forum from erocm123 and it works well with statusbit's remote controller app. Looks smart, but would be nice to have removable button caps for custom labels.”
