“Bought this to replace an aging Vera Lite. What a difference. Easy to use and fast to respond. It can also be seen by my Home Assistant server which has far quicker reaction with switching lights on and off. Only reached half of the capacity of the scene limitations. Great bit of kit for the price.”
“This is a big upgrade from my ageing Vera Plus. The only annoyance is that scenes cannot be triggered by Fibaro Dimmer 2's. Fibaro state they can be, but their support was of no help. On the plus side everything is more responsive than when it was connected to the Vera.”
“I only bought this controller because Vesternet were offering it at a very good price and using a Fibaro controller is still the only way to perform firmware updates on their Z-Wave modules. It was probably a mistake ! It is not particularly easy to set up (poor instructions both in the manual and on the set up screen) and it is quite convoluted to remove the Fibaro module from my HomeSeer install, then to include it in the Fibaro controller, check for a firmware update, do an update (if one exists), remove the module from the Fibaro controller and re-include it in my HomeSeer network. The Fibaro controller is fairly flaky (makes me glad I am not using a Fibaro Z-Wave network) and although the modules are several years old (and have various bugs in them which I was hoping a firmware update was available to fix) no firmware update was available. I cannot find anywhere on the Fibaro forum what exactly is the latest version of the firmware or details of any bug fixes. Bearing in mind that I only bought this to keep my Fibaro modules up to date definitely not worth the investment for me.”
“I'm not using this as my main controller, but for testing devices and updating firmware etc.
For me it would be a bit too limited in functionality, but if all you need is a Z-wave controller that just works then it is nice and intuitive and seems to be stable.”
“Bought in a sale, in order to upgrade the firmware in all the Fibaro modules attached to my Vera. Its a bit of a pain having to go through the rigmarole of doing this, but this bit of kit makes it comparatively straight forward (but not quick if you have lots of inaccessible modules)”
