“I've set one of these up with a 2-wire installation, and found it ideal when combined with a 3-position switch (look them up - usually, they can only really be bought in the UK as grid/modular switches, but very inexpensive). It specifically has a setting for use with 3-pos switches, and works great with them, though this might not be possible depending on your exact setup (e.g. if you have multiple switches for the same light, depending on the wiring).
I've had no problems with this product, and have bought a second one for a different light.”
“The second generation is a marked improvement, detection of surges, autoconfiguration of LED (or other) type, loads of configuration parameters if you really need them, but by and large really reliable, and great if you have 3-way retractive switches ("up / down clickers").”
“Probably the most resilient of my Z-Wave devices from a user experience perspective, I have several Dimmer 2 + Bypass 2 circuits controlled via an AEON Labs Z-Stick and Home Assistant and I am about to install more. I particularly like the load type sensing and the second physical switch terminal which presents as a separate virtual switch to Z-Wave.”
“Using the Dimmer 2 for all my lights.
Works perfectly across all the lights I've tried both dimming and on/off including CFLDs, LEDs & LED strip lights. Works perfectly in both 3 wire and 2 wire circuits with the Bypass capacitor”
