“This range extender simply plugs into an available socket and is positioned such that z wave coverage now extends to my detached garage offering up more opportunities to manage electrical equipment sited there to be managed more efficiently saving money on my energy bills”
“We live in an old farmhouse with very thick stone walls so needed to get the Z-wave signal "round corners". so bought two of them. The setup on a Fibaro HC3 was straightforward although the parameters are a bit "odd" as it seems to think they are lights! So was not sure whether they would work but experimented with them by plugging them into an extension cable and moving it around to find the right place and found they worked! Just need to add a new socket to get power to the right place rather than rely on the extension so job for electrician but will be worth the effort.”
What controller are you using (optional)?
SmartThings
“Paid for next day delivery - DPD lost the parcel in the process. I informed Vesternet and I received the replacement the next day. Next day delivery costs refunded. Shall use the company again!”
“Works better than just using an ordinary z-wave wall socket as a repeater for times where distance and a wall are killing the signal. Note that it does not install a the correct device when using the current z-wave plugin in Homeseer. HS are working on a fix (Jan 2021)”
“Good range extender, simple and easy to setup. What I don't quite follow is the range extender indicator that comes with it. Very useful to have but I have found that when the status light indicates it is out of range, it is not the case as devices that previously were not able to communicate with the main controller can now do so.
It is a positive dilemma to have as opposed to the status indicator showing it has a good connection only to find it is not helping devices that previously were not able to reach the gateway successfully.
I have on old house, with stone and thick walls, and find the range good, comparable to fibaro's uk wall plugs in terms of adding range. The fibaro wall plug's range indicators are more reliable for me than range extender.
So if you want to keep a socket and spare a bit more cash, go for fibaro wall plug. But if you don't mind losing a plug socket and just need to extend the range, these seem to work well enough.”
