Great device so small yet does what it says on the tin. Deliver a bit slow and Vesternet had to be prompted. But all good.

Works really well as a motion sensor. Temperature/humidity/lux only update about once per hour when on battery mode so only useful as an overview, no good for getting live values

Mainly (pun) they route (unlike the Fibaro eyes - which look pretty and I did have) when on USB power. Secondly trialling these outside (protected by a plastic cup with cling film replacing the cut off bottom) - seem healthy so far. Got 8 of these - so Aeotec got it right in my view.

Excellent device. Have one in each bathroom and used to trigger the extractor when humidity reaches a threshold. Also use it to turn on the lights when ambient light level is below x and to verify underfloor heating is doing its job. Great bit of kit. I have one on battery and another powered by USB. Battery only needed replacing after about a year. The recess adapter really gives the sensor a professional install feel (I.e its not obvious it is there unlike the eye of Sauron). I am using this with Indigo as the controller on a Z-Stick Gen5.

I bought two about two years ago and have been using them with rechargeable batteries. They work so great that I bought another one a few months ago but I couldn't get it to work properly. Aeotec customer service advised me that the slightly higher voltage of rechargeable batteries causes problems and therefore you can only use regular batteries. This was a massive disappointment as I have to change the batteries 4-5 times a year. There appears to have been a hardware change as my older ones work perfectly with rechargeable batteries. There is also a delay of a few seconds when the motion sensor is triggered.

I have one of these connected to openhub which was relitivly painless. I have set a trigger to thurn the lights on from motion and low light which works very well although there is a 2-3sec delay. The pir from my tests works much better celling mounted as the detection works better walking across not too. As such I will be using 230vto12v then fit a car 12v usb transformer to provide perminant power. Over all love the device the light, temp, humidity, motion and uv in such a small package it great. I have marked it fromm 5 to 4 stars due to the responsivness of the motion.

Full disclosure - I prefer the look of the Fibaro eyeball (c'mon, it glares at you, fabulous!) and (as I noted) those CAN run off 5V power supply avoiding the battery issue. But where this scores SERIOUS Bronwnie points is that it KNOWS it is mains powered and so can route messages. Huge, huge, huge win (are you listening Fibaro?). So these are going to be my Z-Wave backbone. Humidity is nice but then again it needs a hole so, now if these worked outside (PIR isn't recommended outside [not tried] and they aren't waterproof - maybe some silicone, hmmmm.....) they'd be perfect. Doesn't glare at you though ......

I now use several of these sensors where hard wired motion detection would be "difficult", to compliment existing hard wired detection or to gain more environmental information. They work well. Very well. The initial two are hard wired as I've got those updating constantly to Homeseer feeding back luminance primarily to operate lighting macros, motion as a matter of course and temperature. Setup is about as painless as it gets and a whole heap easier than most, setting parameters almost as simple although some things are a right pain to work out, such as removing the motion downtime between detections. This is not an issue if you don't intend to try to use these as an occupancy sensor of sorts but, if you do it may present an issue. It's one you can solve apparently, I just haven't worked out how yet. Battery life I cannot comment on yet as I've only got one now operating without being permanently hard wired. But that is what it is, if you need to use these on battery power then I'd guess the life will depend, like most, on the level or traffic and reporting. Hard wired, I've been using these for well over a year and they are rock solid, completely reliable. Overall though, bang for buck, the ability to plonk them almost anywhere with ease, the unobtrusive look (they fit into most any room) and the wealth of info and features make these sensors and tough act to beat.
