These strong PP40 permeable pavers, also known as gravel grids or grass grids, are used where a permeable ground stabilisation solution is required for applications including driveways, car parks, overflow parking, car parking bays, cycle paths, pedestrian footpaths and wheelchair access paths.  PP40 gravel grids are our flagship pavers in our permeable paving range due to its strength and easy-to-install nature, providing over 350 tonnes of support per square metre, making it a favourite whether you are installing a commercial car park or domestic driveway. PP40 permeable pavers can be filled with either gravel or grass to provide a free-draining pavement surface that is SuDs (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) source control compliant.  Moreover, the plastic grids have a unique open cell structure that is ideal for allowing grass roots to spread from cell to cell, allowing vertical and horizontal passage of water, drainage and the flow of nutrients.  These benefits provide a great growing environment for grass with the ground stabilisation that the plastic porous pavers give to the grass’ structure.  This structure also ensures that angular gravel is interlocked firmly so that it is retained in situ and won't move or be lost as a car wheel drives over. Please note that rounded pea shingle is not advised for this reason, but slightly angular gravel is recommended instead, such as our golden flint gravel, red granite chippings, white chippings or cream Cotswold chippings. Each paver has the added benefit of a 25mm ground spike which helps resist lateral movement caused by repetitive traffic. PP40 porous pavers provide the grass or gravel with the structural integrity that is required to cope with stabilising the ground for pedestrians, cars, vans, trucks, lorries, coaches and buses. Applications: Overflow grass car parks/gravel car parks Grass or gravel driveways Coach and bus parks Emergency fire lanes or fire engine access roads Helipads or light aircraft taxiways Pedestrian paths and garden paths Cycle tracks and paths Wheelchair/disabled access routes (DDA) Golf buggy/trolley paths SuDS source control schemes Please note that with all installations of grass pavers, we strongly recommend that all areas should have sufficient drainage prior to the installation. Failure to ensure this may result in the product not performing as intended. To see our full installation guidelines and specification sheets, please head to our technical area.

Well worth money. Had a delivery lorry 18T drop stone onto grids and held up under the weight. A proper job as my Postman says!

I bought about 20 sqm of PP40 grids for the front driveway of a house. They arrived quickly, were well-packaged, and do the job well. The installation instructions on the website are also super-informative and helpful. I would have only two bits of feedback: (i) I mixed soil and sand in 60/40 proportions on site, and so far the grass is growing well in this mixture, plus the grids seem to be stable. So I am not sure it's necessary for people to spend £120-£130 on bags of Rootzone 60/40; (ii) the PP40 seem pretty expensive for what they are: moulded bits of polypropylene. I found Suregreen was less expensive than the competition so ordered from them, but the product itself still seems quite dear.

The plastic grids worked well on a boggy grass path by a river. They were easy to lay and should allow the grass to grow through. We will order more grids if the current trial continues to perform.
