About Spicentice:

Back in 1994 when founder, Ketan Varu, was at university, his mum sent him recipes and spices to make real Indian curries that would remind him of home. Pretty soon all his friends were hooked and the idea for Spicentice was born.

All these years later Spicentice is very much a family business (with mum, Manjula, and dad, Ramnik, still making sure Ketan eats a good lunch!) and the range has grown to include Indian, Thai, Mexican, Portuguese, Cajun, Jamaican and Moroccan spice kits, along with handy tubs of herb & spice rubs.

Spicentice stands out from the crowd because of its commitment to traditional recipes that have been perfected over generations, with 100% pure herbs & spices, no waste and absolutely no nasties! Ketan now has a young family of his own and continues the tradition of cooking and sharing meals with family and friends.

Saw this being advertised over the Christmas period and thought I’d give it a try. New Year’s Day now upon us so opted for the vindaloo recipe Made a few amendments to the dish My own base gravy My own pre cooked chicken tikka pieces It certainly provides a decent heat but there is an underlying flavour there so it’s not all about the heat. On eating the heat is there but thankfully not killing the taste buds. On completion of the meal it takes a wee bit of time and the heat comes in a wave. Enjoyed it ... next weekend will be the Phaal dish before I even decide on the hottest one

I purchased this box as a joint present for my wife and I for Christmas. We decided to go with the phaal as the medium in heat for our first outing. Wow. Upon cooking the house smelt incredible, the curry itself is a right vicious little number. Stunning flavour, I mean REALLY stunning! The heat is proper, the only thing that comes close is a curry I had in Jaipur in India when I asked for it 'hot'. Sweat under the eyelids hot. Moisture from your entire head hot. But so damn delicious!! The Reaper is next, god help me!
