I've worn the socks with new all leather trainers in moderate rain on two occasions. Shoe did leak a little water onto sock exterior. Sock interior remained bone dry.

This is my second pair of thick Sealskinz. The first pair lasted a good five years or more, so happy with the investment. In the interim, I did buy a pair of 'Thin' ones, which were less durable and less waterproof, so I am back to these which truly do what they claim.

Superb socks. I use them in a pair of waterproof leather hiking boots for winter mountain biking. These are thick socks, so the boots are one full size larger than my normal shoe size to give plenty of room. This is a very effective combination to keep my feet warm, dry and comfortable. On a recent ride, I lost balance crossing a small stream and had to put one foot in the water. The water came over the top of my boot (but not over the top of the sock). For the rest of the ride, I could feel and hear the water sloshing in my boot, but my foot remained warm and dry. Amazing!

Bought for using in waders. Worked well and warm after a day of wading in cool water around 42 degrees

The Saintelyon is a night trail that takes place between Saint-Etienne and Lyon early December. 72km with 2000 of D +. It was a little risky but I tested the socks. The foot! Not wet and not cold, despite the snow for more than 50km and a temperature of - 10 degrees Celcius. Excellent product for the trail.

My husband and I bought two pairs of these special socks for our son's Christmas present. He was delighted with them but we thought that although very good they were expensive.
