The 5 star is for the socks for also for Sealskinz' truly excellent customer service and warranty policy. The first pair I ordered unfortunately had a leak in one of them. I contacted Sealskinz and they responded quickly. They asked me to perform some tests to make sure there was a fault and that I hadn't accidentally let water in from above the cuff. When I had proved there was indeed a leak, they gave me a 100% discount code to purchase a new pair. All this was sorted out within 24hrs. My new pair work perfectly and I am very impressed with the company and the product. The original pair were a size M, which I chose because I am about halfway between a UK5 and a UK6. The waterproof lining gives the socks a 'pre-shaped' form, sort of like a neoprene boot. If you are at the lower end of a size range, this makes them a bit 'baggy' so you have to take care when putting on a shoes to make sure they don't bunch up. For the replacement pair I decided to choose a size S. These are just about okay, but as the material does not stretch it means that there is very little 'give' across the toes. My partner who has slightly smaller feet, closer to a UK5, says the lack of stretch confines their toes and aggravates their Morton's Neuroma. For me they are fine once I have them on and in a shoe, but for those who like a bit more toe-room and are on the edge of a size range, I recommend going for the bigger one. Otherwise the socks are comfortable, waterproof and warm. I like to wear trail runners all year round for hiking and running, and these are just fab when worn with a light liner sock.

They aren't waterproof at all. My feet were soaking wet in a short time. I wanted them for trail running in winter. This has reminded me that I must return then and ask for a refund

I have two pairs of walking shoes I really like but they have started to let in water. Bought a pair of all weather ankle length socks so my feet remain warm and dry.

Bought these at Christmas for my husband who suffers from cold feet. Have been great BUT today he wore them to walk through wet grass and his under socks are soaked and his toes cold so obviously the waterproof barrier isn’t any longer! Given the price, the short time he has had them value for money is rock bottom

The socks are great in the wet, especially if your trainers are not waterproof. They are warm and well made but very expensive at £35 a pair and hard to justify.
