Some call these hinges ‘Sumo’ or ‘Triad’, however the trade name is ‘Mega’. Both hinges can alleviate the binding issue associated with friction hinges and flush casement profiles.

“Mega Egress is my go to friction hinge, indeed I've designed a whole window around them. They allow you to achieve fire reg compliance on smaller width sashes with true 90% opening and the ability to partial over lap of the frame with the sash, this can not be done with any other friction hing I've come across, however they are not part of SD Hardwares part Q cascade system, which I personally can't get my head around as they are game changing and brilliant hinge. Although I've had attempt real life brake-in's on my windows ( none successful) my windows don't qualify for part Q. ( as I can't afford the price to get them done) it's nearly always been the hanging side that's been attacked, which the Mega egress hinge has handled it with ease. Infact if the sash needed replacing, I've refitted the original hinges with out any issue at all. The only thing you need to look out for is the button for easy cleaning, as I've had one or two that haven't worked as they've been jammed In. But a push with a flat screwdriver has always sorts this proplem out so far with out. I highly recommend them 100% my go to friction hinge.”

“Having removed an internal downstairs wall the bedroom windows did not meet building regs requirements for fire egress. These hinges are perfect for the job with the added bonus of being able to clean the outside. SD helped before buying by confirming I could return the products if they didn't solve the problem. Delivery was within 24 hours, very happy customer.”

“Constant annoyance at the current standard hinges fitted to all plastic and aluminum double glazing units these days which means you cannot open a window properly/fully. In my case this applied to the fanlight window, open it and it slides downward giving a small opening and a large gap at the top for the rain to come in - just what we all wanted!!! \n \nThese egress hinges solve this problem completely which means you can have a proper opening window giving full ventilation regardless of weather - and without rain ingress, just like windows were in the good old days! \n \nThis is a superb product, SDH provided extremely fast shipping as well. I cannot recommend this Company highly enough - many thanks guys!”
