Basa, also called pangasius, is farmed in South East Asia and is a fabulous fish. It is often overlooked because of its price point, which makes it even more impressive. To prepare our basa fish fillets the fish is filleted and quickly frozen to ensure the best quality product when you defrost it in your home. Basa is mild in flavour and absorbs flavour very well, so it is fit for whatever cuisine you throw at it. We like to dice the basa fish fillet and add it to curries or smother it in Mexican flavours to add to tacos. Frozen basa fish is brilliantly versatile, and it's well worth having some in stock in the freezer, ready to go when you are. Basa is low in calories and a great source of protein. Our basa (Pangasius hypophthalmus) is sourced from a farm in Vietnam. These farms give local Vietnamese skilled jobs and help to support the local communities. They quickly freeze the fillets to lock in quality and flavour resulting in super fresh products for you to enjoy.
Cooking Instructions
Defrost thoroughly before cooking. This product is raw, ensure the fish is fully cooked before consumption. Once defrosted, do not refreeze.
Cooking in foil:1. Full defrost the fillet2. Preheat the oven to 200°C3. Wrap the fillet in foil and place on a baking tray.3. Put the baking tray in the oven and cook for around 17-19 minutes or until cooked
