Great product. I used a heat gun (originally for removing paint) which worked perfectly: you can see the bitumen melting into the wood along the edges.

Very well made robust product. Installation onto fence posts is an easy process when following the instructions. With the pro-sleeves now fitted and fence posts installed and a clear protection of a few inches above the soil ground level hopefully there will be many years of protection from rot

The product is designed to prevent rot to fence posts at ground level by creating a physical barrier. You wrap the post saver around your new fence post with a couple of inches proud of ground level then heat is applied to shrink wrap the plastic and melt the bitumen paint. You then set the post as usual. I have used these numerous times so far to good affect.

Ordered these sleeves for fence posts a few times now, easy enough to apply to the posts. They seem a good idea. In the past I’ve always treated posts ends with a good soak in a deep bucket of creosote for weeks before using them, these saves all the faff and waiting! hopefully they will do what they claim and lengthen the life in the ground for the posts for many years ahead, I’ll let you know in about 20 years if they are still up
