What is Saxenda?Saxenda is an injection used for weight loss. It contains the medicine liraglutide. It can be used alongside diet and exercise to help aid weight loss. Saxenda is a registered trademark of Novo Nordisk.
The weight loss injection can be prescribed for people with a body mass index (BMI) over 30. It can also be used for people with a BMI over 27 who have also been diagnosed with weight-related medical problems. These include:

Pre-diabetes and diabetes type 2
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
High cholesterol
Obstructive sleep apnoea

How does Saxenda work?
Saxenda contains the active ingredient liraglutide. Liraglutide is similar to a hormone in the body called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). This is an appetite hormone that helps regulate hunger and is released by the intestines after a meal.
Due to being similar to GLP-1, Saxenda regulates appetite causing you to feel fuller and less hungry. This can lead to eating fewer calories and losing weight.

“In my personal experience Saxendra has helped me lose 4.4 kg so far in one month and I'm very pleased with the results. It reduced my sugar /junk food cravings, making me have more fruit and vegetables and lots of water and juices instead. In regards to the side effects I only experienced headache and fatigue during the first week. Also nausea and vomit in one ocassion after having scrambled eggs for dinner.To avoid having these side effects it helped not having any high calorie/ fatty food. What I noticed is that if I had an injection at bedtime I'd feel very drawsy in the morning so I started to have it in the mornings and it made a difference, I noticed I felt more energetic throughout the day and very tired at bedtime falling fast asleep very quickly. The first pen will last you about 3 weeks if you, the only downside is that you have to increase the dose weekly and the pen only lasts a week.”
