Chloramphenicol Eye Ointment is a treatment for both adults and children for acute bacterial conjunctivitis (ABC). It belongs to the antibiotic family of medicines. ABC is characterised by a redness and inflammation of the eye with the possible presence of a golden crust. The eye ointment should be used regularly for 7 days for the infection to clear.

“When I read the instruction leaflet which came with the medication it said people with blood disorders should not use the product. I have hereditary spherocytosis and so could not use this product therefore I cannot comment on it' efficacy.”
