“This is more of a 3.5. The quality is really good and the lead is very comfortable to hold. This is my favourite lead. However, my partner is uncomfortable using a cinch lead for fear of harming the dog. I am less concerned but the rubber bungs don't hold their position adequately so they don't give the 'safety' reassurance they're meant to. To overcome the limitations, we've attached a carabiner to the end and are using it as a normal clip-on lead. Would I buy it again? probably not, but I'm confident in the brand.”

Hello Andrew, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Glad to hear that you are happy with the lead. As stated, the lead itself is made from the same climbing rope that climbers use so they are strong and comfortable. Hearing your partners concerns, if the rubber bungs are a little loose that is okay. The idea of the leash is that it should be secure and tighten as the dog pulls or tugs, the leash will tighten around the neck slightly, then release as pulling is reduced. In some instances, we do understand that not all leads are ideal for all dogs and that being said we are glad to hear you have found an alternative way to use the leash. We do have a range of Ruffwear leashes which may be better suited. For example, our "Knot-a-leash" or "Knot-a-long" are made from the same material as the "Just-a-cinch", the only difference is they have a carabiner clip at the end leads. “Excellent, robust lead and fit for purpose. My friend had a slip lead with the flap of leather stopper rather than the silicone stopper (as seen here) to hold the lead in place and quickly realised it was nowhere near as good as this one. They subsequently bought this lead aswell. I'm very happy with this lead.”
