Fitted this hatch with a 3 section ladder. Two problems: 1. The polystyrene insulation is so thick, it fouls the path of the ladder. It does this to such an extent, it was necessary to saw off an edge to allow the ladder to descend. Even now, the hatch rubs against the ladder, rubbing off a few white flakes after each visit to the loft. I have to hoover up the snow every time I get the suitcases down. 2. The hatch is not quite square in its frame, and has to be twisted slightly for the lock to engage. Apart from these things, it is adequate. It fills the hole, doesn't leak cold air through gaps etc.

Although our house was only built in 1997 our loft hatch was a really poor fitting badly insulated push up trap. No matter how hard I tried there was always a blast of cold air coming from one side or the other. To top it off the hatch had also discoloured and was a yellowish colour. After lots of research I decided to get the most insulated hatch I could find which as far as I can tell is this model. I ordered on Thursday and took delivery the following day. It's worth noting this hatch has a deep slab of insulation which I did have to notch out to allow it to not snag my loft ladder. Overall I'm really impressed with this loft hatch. It doesn't protrude much and is a lovely clean white colour. The catch has a lovely smooth action and the seals around the frame have eliminated the cold blast of air we used to get from our previous hatch. Our landing feels much warmer than it ever used to. As I don't use the loft much, I preferred to have better insulation. If I used my loft more often I'd have gone for a lower insulation value model which has a shallower slab of insulation.

I wanted an insulated loft hatch which doesn't protrude from the ceiling too much. This fits the bill
