As with stones, the largest bits stay on top and the littlies float to the bottom on movement of the feeder. This means that some smaller seed falls to the ground. Plenty of birds to help down there but some smaller seeds germinate. Flax? lovely blue spires. Leave them to flower- the bees love them. But do destroy quickly once the the flowers start fading, as the seed spreads far and wide!”
