As a big fan of Islay malts, I find the Bunnahabhain range to be consistently excellent across all the different bottlings. This is no exception; peaty and complex yet subtle. The cask strength un-chill-filtered approach is rewarded in the glass, as a small amount of ice seems to unfurl the charms within.

This was bought as a gift for my brother. He was delighted to receive it. Some issues with delivery caused me some concerns but the company ensured that the delivery address was changed and he had his bottle in time for his 70th birthday. Good PR.

An excellent tipple if you like the peaty after taste. But please - only add a drop of water to release the aroma - too much drowns the wonderful taste.

As a relative single malt noob this was my first real foray into pleated whisky. Once my palate has gotten over the initial surprise of the smoke (I had only had unsmoked whisky before this), it has grown on me In leaps and bounds, and I am now a convert. I can’t wait to get my next bottle. Thanks, Bunnahabhain, when I come to Islam I shall definitely drop in to say hi.
