This has to be one of my favourite whisky creations, smooth and with sweet notes but not over the top! A fine drinkable whisky that I always come back to!

Balvenie's 14 Year Old Caribbean cask is my favourite whisky. I first tried it in a bar on the banks of Loch Fyne, after asking the barman what single malt he'd choose if he was me. He produced a key from around his neck, opened a locked cabinet and poured a glass of this beautiful stuff! It took a while getting to the tasting as the nose was so sweet and full of toffee notes. If I could only smell a whisky and not drink it, this would be the one I'd choose! However, taste it I did and was hit with a delicious vanilla which lingered for a moment and then gave way to warm baked bread and notes of spice. True, this Balvenie isn't the most challenging whisky - it is instantly likeable. But sometimes (well, often), an easy-drinking, tasty and interesting single malt is what hits the spot.
