I bought the grade 1 in Medium and as stated it is spacious which I wanted. The quality of these jackets compared to the overpriced crisp packets sold for silly money is exceptional. I found no repairs. I am ex army and I never got issued kit anything like this quality. I would argue with FU+Kit over their description. 2 generous velcroed waist pockets and 2 very generous, concealed, zipped upper pockets outside and no internal (map pocket ?). I am not complaining. Very happy. The waterproof underarm zips are a good idea. Have already tested it in a lightning storm with heavy downpour. Definitely waterproof. Thanks Fu+Kit.

Short review: really excellent value. A couple of minor marks as you would expect in a surplus jacket. Well designed. A proper gore-tex shell layer jacket. Detailed review: I bought this jacket based on reviews here and on other (outdoors & hiking forum) sites that rate this jacket very highly as a waterproof shell layer. I have seen this described several times as “the best waterproof you can buy for this money”. This jacket was £40 for a genuine gore-tex shell, so it cannot be faulted for value. Specifically I needed a packable rain jacket for hiking. Experience has taught me that a jacket can be waterproof, smart, robust, packable and cheap - but not all of those things together. There is always a trade-off. I wanted a jacket that was highly waterproof and packable as the priorities, the other things were not so important. I was at the point of paying many times this for a brand-name jacket that would do the job but it really was silly money for something that will sit in my pack and may not be needed from one hike to the next if it doesn’t rain. This fits the bill exactly and to get it for such good value is just a bonus. Condition: this jacket is in “good used” condition. The Velcro strip along the storm flap at the front is very tatty and doesn’t stick in a couple of places. There are a couple of oily marks on one of the sleeves, I have washed the jacket properly in Tec-Wash and these marks haven’t come out, so it must have been grease or machine oil or similar. I can live with these minor faults as I am not buying a brand new jacket. Would I wear this on my way into the office or around town, no, but this was bought with the whole intention of stuffing into my pack, it will only go on if it is raining hard and if that’s the case, nobody else out there will notice if the jacket is a little worn. The key thing is the condition of the gore-tex lining which is all intact with no holes or rips. Fit: I am on the small side of medium in most clothes, ‘athletic fit’. I ordered this jacket in Small / regular length. I am not really a small size but this fits great. There is still enough room for a couple of layers to be worn underneath. Also the length is ideal, it covers to below the waist. Features: didn’t see this listed on the site, but the jacket does have pit-zips. These are the proper waterproof zips. This really is just such a bonus. If you are buying a brand-name jacket you will pay extra for this feature. Also the hood is a really good design, it zips up so as to pull the hood into shape, it also has a wired peak to maintain the shape. The hood is fully gore-tex lined. I have bought expensive jackets in the past where the hood has been an afterthought and in some cases not fully lined. The hood on this is really good and designed I guess to go over a military helmet. This jacket has not been worn out in the rain yet but I have no doubt it will perform well. After giving it a thorough wash to clean the Gore membrane, I have re-proofed the outer layer and it is good to go. Roll on the autumn and the weather for some proper hiking. Just a note on Forces Uniform and Kit - very good customer service. Also they use a proper courier service for deliveries, not one of those “Chuck the parcel over the fence” merchants!

This jacket does exactly what it's supposed to do - without a whopping price-tag attached.

Very well made jacket, excellent value for money. My initial jacket had a tear but was replaced with a new one very quickly. Excellent condition and roomy enough to wear over a thick jumper or light down jacket. Good large pockets and hood.

The best waterproof jacket money can buy. Sizing is generous and the hood is huge! I've used it in a few downpours. Does exactly what you expect it to do. Keep you dry

A few small pro repairs, sealed well. Great jacket, size spot on with room underneath for fleece when using as a shell. Needed waterproofing, Nikwax spray worked great. Huge hood, but adjustable. Now I don't have to spend £350 on some pretentious civvy Goretex rip off made out of tissue paper and unicorns, I can buy three more titanium sporks instead. Pretty good news.
