Good - 1) Build quality 2) Adjustable (fore and aft) hood strap. Bad - 1) Length (and hence not 5*) despite being a Long fit, the Jacket Hem line only reached the top of inside leg. I would have preferred a Hem down to mid-thigh bone or longer.

brought this because i was getting fed up spending loads of money on high street brand gore tex jackets and genraly being very dissapointed at sizing and being ripped off price wise.i am very glad i did .for what i normally pay for one jacket i got two.and i was very impressed with them.tough material and a lose fit .for use in layering .i perchased this item to use not to look cool in .the hood is big and no open spots on the collar for wind to get in on your neck ive used this jacket on a building site out in the elements all day as far as i am concerned its excellent.if your looking for a proper no thrills gortex jacket well priced look no further if you want to look cool.go get some over priced designer crap that wont last five mins in the real world .i wish you well peace

Genuinely new; came with care instruction card (in French). Size options allow a terrific fit for a tall slim frame. The material is thick and feels tough, with a double layer on the elbows. As with most military gear, it isn't the lightest option around (size 88L weighs 1100g) but it certainly appears robust. The fabric is by no means silent, but it's definitely not as crisp-packety as others I have seen. I like the colours a lot: to me it looks better than in the picture. Excellent large hood (easily helmet compatible), with volume adjuster and peak (not stiffened). Heavy duty zip with a really good double storm flap, which uses poppers. Hem, collar & hood have shockcord with nice large toggles; should make it easy to adjust with gloves on (ditto main zip). The cord in the collar will really keep the wind out. Two internal chest pockets with zipped access underneath the storm flap (an OS map fits, just). Has pit zips for ventilation under the arms. Two negatives: (1) As with quite a few other military mvp jackets, there are no pockets on the front, so nowhere to put your hands; this is a bit strange if used to conventional waterproofs, but for me is an acceptable trade-off at this price. (2) The epaulettes on the shoulders have thick poppers; these are uncomfortable under rucksack straps and could cause real problems if carrying a rucksack for extended periods. I'm going to remove the poppers, patch the holes, and stitch or glue the epaulettes down over the top - a small modification to suit my needs on an otherwise excellent jacket. Overall a really good fit/hood, nice colours & tough-looking fabric.
