“I have a Trek Marlin and I ordered mine back in early 22 and due to Covid lockdown in China orders were somewhat delayed so it arrived several months late, unfortunately this wasn't communicated without prompting, which was a bit of a annoyance. It was due in June and I received it in November.
The kit its self was easy to put together and the instructions are fairly simple. I had to buy a new disk brake because the other wouldn't release off the wheel. It took me about 2hours to build, but that's mainly because I had to keep rechecking the instructions. I ordered the booster switch however because my frame is not round or straight makes finding a place to attach it is difficult. As is securing the battery mount. But it's attached that's what matters.
Using it, especially with the nice weather, is quite nice. But the Range (I bought the XL pack) is stretching the definition. It boils down to riding style. Size of the wheels (I have a 28"), level ground and the power level. Even at the lowest assist level I might get 2 days travel and that's 12 miles on a single charge, bit of a far cry from the 25+ miles claimed. Perhaps others would have a better result with smaller wheel base.
I found that I was having to get creative when cycling especially on day 2. I have it on a low power when I'm cycling, press down once more so its not using any going down hill. Turn it up too 4 when setting off from traffic lights before turning it down when at speed, and 3 on hills. It's no wonder they suggest a second pack or a spare charging cable for the 'Office'.
It wouldn't work for me unless they came up for a way for me to charge from a 12v power socket on the vehicle and I don't fancy buying another battery until I need too.
Worth the £600 I paid? Meh, while cheaper than a ready built, it needs more work on the battery capacity. However it does the job of moving the weight of my Bike and my sorry carcass along the road so Im not going to argue too much.”
“I have two Bulls Ebikes with Bosch systems for the wife and I to tour around together, but I still like the freedom and feel of my road bike experience. Now that I am 69 it has been the perfect reuse of my trusty 2013 Trek 1.2 bike with a quick release fork and conventional crank and internal bearings. It was an easy install per the good, provided instructions and with great customer service here in the US for a few technical questions and ordering an extra battery. Responses were always within one day given the time difference. I think it’s the best Ebike conversion around and a great value to add to a decent framerset. I think it basically performs about as good as a $4,000 Scott Addict with a Mahle X35 250w rear hub motor. With some good peddling effort and good gears, the lowest assist level helps get me up my 1000’ climbs with great battery range with no-power descents, and it still feels like my same bike with no noticeable motor resistance. Maybe I would like a fully integrated electric assist road bike someday, but for now it is all I need to keep on riding. I have a few other bikes, and friend’s bikes to Swytch. Thanks”
“Kit was good.
Fairly easy to fit to my Trek comfort bike once two minor problems were resolved.
One problem was the cadence sensor was impossible to mount on my Trek's strong frame. I had to use my modelling skills to make a substitute mounting bracket.
Another issue was that the motor wheel supplied had a metric spindle while my US bought Trek appeared to have an English units fork slot. Easily solved with a flat file in minutes.
Extremely pleased with the performance of the motor and battery.
I live half way up a steep hill so the upgrade makes my cycling so much easier.”
“Swytch have looked after me extremely well as a customer almost from day 1 (ordered September 2022) - I say almost because initially I had some issues with payment (card not being accepted) that was quite frustrating and it took them a while to respond because it was in the middle of their new product launch. A simple live chat would have sorted it but they were unavailable.
A day later I was able to get support by email - fortunately they were able to honor the original discount price even though it had since sold out due to high demand, hence the frustration at my original payment not going through. But all was forgiven as I got the 60% discount the next day, which was available for delivery in January.
Eventually the kit was delivered in February after many order updates which were relatively helpful and explained the short delay. But of course all I really wanted was to get notified when it would arrive! Eventually I did and recieved a UPS tracking number and the kit arrived shortly afterwards.
I have absolutely no complaints about the product itself, it has worked as expected right from the start - fitting was simple, using it on a daily basis now feels like second nature and the small size and portability of the new battery is unlike any other eBike I've seen and very handy. The power is just the same as most other eBikes I've used which is impressive because of how small the battery is
Definitely would recommend to others looking for a good affordable eBike option, and I regularly do!”
“I would like to give different aspects of the Swytch wheel different stars. Overall it gets a 5 star with me. The wait time of getting the wheel is a 3 star because it took almost a year to get it. However, it's a start up company so I understand there are issues. They did a pretty good job communicating the set backs and wait time.
4.5 stars for their customer service. I had to communicate with them several times at the time of purchase and after receiving my wheel. My first communications were extremely fast. It was really impressive. The latest communications were a little slower but for a start up that had just sent out a huge batch of product, they did a pretty good job and took care of my issue accurately and to my satisfaction.
The price, I would give 4 stars for the current price but 6 stars for what I paid for, since I jumped onboard early, on I got a great price.
The wheel itself I would give a 7 star rating. I love this thing. It was fairly easy to install. I had a few issues cause my bike has a few places that are not the size they designed for. I couldn't use the brake sensors but I found they don't really matter. Once I got it all working, it was like a breath of fresh air. My bike is over 11 years old with thousands of miles on it. It just isn't as fast as it used to be. The Swytch wheel has changed everything. I love this thing. I like to commute to work, about 10.5 miles, and the last two miles are up hill. I used to get to work exhausted. Now, I get to work almost ten minutes faster, still feel I got a great work out, and feel great! I don't feel like laying down under my desk all morning. It really has changed my biking commute in ways I didn't think possible. So glad I didn't have to spend a thousand plus dollars to get a new bike.
Thank you Swytch team!”
“Amazing video call service - I have never had such a fantastic and easy remote support from a company. They sent a video cal link by email which I was able to click on and easily do a video call with them on my phone - the person on the other end was very patient and carefully explained how to solve the problem I had with installation. I was able to put the phone on the side as I tried to follow the instructions, and they guided me through it and a few minutes later I had successfully fitted the wheel with the disc brake, which was the part i was stuck on.
They followed up by email a short while after and I was able to confirm that it had been fitted OK
So my review of the customer team is excellent, my review of the kit on my bike is top as well. I am the envy of everyone else in my elderly cycling club (it is just for fun not sport any more!) and I think there maybe be a few more orders coming your way!”
