Universal Swytch eBike Kit Reviews

4.8 Rating 352 Reviews
This was a great way to convert your bike to an e-bike. When the order arrived it was very simple to install on my existing bike and was using it very quickly. It's fun to ride and the product delvers in almost every way. There are only a few things I can point out that would make this a better product and the first one is battery capacity. I ordered the largest battery and it doesn't last as long as it was advertised. On a full charge I can probably get 10 miles at the very most and I wish that it would allow for more. That brings me to the only other thing I would like to see improved and that is the ability to order replacement parts or even extra batteries after purchasing the kit. I broke the speedometer while upgrading some of the parts on the bike and in order to get a replacement for this I had to email customer service and ask them to order it for me and because of miscommunication the part they sent me was the standard speedometer and not the OLED that I wanted so it would be much easier if there was a store you could visit and pick the part you want. I would also love to get an extra battery but don't really want to go through emailing customer service and maybe getting the wrong part. Those are two small things that kept me from giving it 5 stars but if you are looking for an ebike this wont let you down.

Difficult to fit to make work on a BB30 bottom bracket bike ( need an FSA insert shell and a cartridge bottom bracket) but can work no problem once thought about Brilliant once done but not a quick solution but can make it work.

I love it- like cycling but without all the boring bits! Super-easy to set up too. The only issue is the battery - I have a 15 mile ride to do, so bought the larger battery, but after a few goes it only just lasts for this distance. Wish I’d opted for the integrated lights too as that would be so convenient.

Love what it did to my bike makes all journeys pleasurable and so much more efficient - rarely use my car in the city any more I do wish the charger unit was more robust. After only a few months wires are really lose and anxious it’s going to be out of use soon. Also the battery lights and the on bike battery gauge are in no way aligned so it’s easy to suddenly find yourself out of power when you think you have more. That aside it’s a firm hit with me.

I really like how compact the battery system it, how easy it is to charge up and how the Swytch bike really helps assist my ride, especially on the hills where I live. It makes bike riding more manageable on my aging joints and makes me want to keep riding my bike consistently. I'm very please I was able to convert my favorite bike into an eBike. My one regret is not having ordered the larger battery. Depending on my route, the hills can really use up charge in a hurry, so in hindsight, I should have chosen having more capacity.

E-Brompton with Swytch kit: commuting is no longer the same First of all, I was surprised (Note: it's my first experience with an e-bike) by the acceleration power of the engine... a bomb! Climbs no longer exist, with my 3 gear when you exceeded a 4% gradient the pedaling was quite hard without the engine. The installation was simple and I had fun understanding how to manage the passage of the cables also to allow it to be folded without problems. With the engine off, you can feel the resistance of the engine when starting to pedal, less during the bike ride on a flat ground. I appreciated the rather smooth power transmission mode and the relative silence of the engine. The lightness and compactness of the kit - I took the Swytch max kit with an overall weight of the bike increased by only 3.5kg - comes at the expense of a not exceptional declared autonomy of 30km: after four months of use I travel about 45km and 400m D+ elevation a week with 2 full battery charges. I quote from another review the ONLY NEGATIVE NOTE regarding the Swytch kit I found: "...the computer part and the battery both have power indicators and yet they almost never agree with each other. The computer power level indicator shrinks very quickly and will cut out and stop sending power to the motor even though the battery indicator is still showing three of five lights meaning there should be at least 50% of battery left. What makes this even worse is that when power is not actively being sent to the motor there is considerable drag against your self-powered pedaling. Then if I stop at a stop sign or for a minute or two on the side of the road the power indicator on the computer goes back up and now I have power again. So there's something wrong in the programming that hopefully could be fixed for future models. It's really frustrating to see that your battery has more than 50% power and the brain of the whole thing decide that you have zero." Ultimately, I really appreciate the electric assistance of Swytch kit but I strongly recommend to buy the MAX battery pack in order to have a reasonable riding distance between recharges.

Kit has exceeded my expectations. Installation experience was acceptable, and the power and assist has been amazing. Completely changed my biking experience. We were missing one part (battery dongle) upon delivery. Support promptly sent us the missing part.
