“Bought this oil a few years ago to change the oil in the Ford MT82 gearbox on a 2010 TDCI powered Land Rover Defender, which had a particularly notchy, not nice to use, gear change. Opie recomended this oil and after about 500 miles it was like driving a different vehicle, smooth and notch free. The latest purchase of the oil was for an oil change to look after the gearbox.”
Hi,
I'm really not sure why that would happen, but if it was in the gearbox and the gearbox sealed properly, there should be no smell. All I can think of is some was spilled on the box during filling and when it got warm, it caused a smell, or the filler plug wasn't fitted correctly.
It really is a top end oil, one of the most popular oils that we have and used across all kinds of applications. I can't think of anyone mentioning a smell from it before.
Regards
Tim
