Innox Pro GTX Mid Reviews

The Innox Pro GTX Mid is super-lightweight, highly cushioned boot for moving quickly with a small pack. A true door-to-trail boot, they're so comfortable you'll be able to wear them all day, right to the top of your nearest peak, and back into the pub at the end of the day, without even noticing them. They also have the added benefit of being 100% vegan.

I've used 7 different hiking shoes and boots in the past 3 years and the Lowa Innox Pro would be my absolute go-to pair deserving 5 stars – if they were reliably waterproof. The fit is great, with a not-too-narrow toebox, which is very appreciated. They are comfortable to wear all around and the ankle collar gives helpful support. The underfoot-cushioning is initially good but comes to its limits on very long hikes. A bit more would help reduce foot fatigue here. Slightly increasing the weight of the boot for this would be acceptable given how wonderfully light it is to begin with. I personally like the aesthetics (serious but not clunky or too technical, natural greens and greys that fit into the outdoors rather than screaming neon colours), and the fact that they are free from leather. The only key issue I have experienced is that two pairs (original and a replacement) let in water in the toebox area when walking in UK rain or wet grass for more than a few minutes, or stepping into a puddle. This was in 2020 when they came out, so perhaps this has been improved now. I still often circle back to wearing the defect pair as they're such a good package in every other aspect, ending up with wet feet when brief rain or a hidden puddle finds me on a multi-day hike after all and wondering if a 2022 pair would finally be waterproof...

Generally fantastic boots and a great concept, especially being leather free and light. Unfortunately I got 2 pairs of these that were absolutely not waterproof (one lasted 2 walks, the other leaked straight out of the box). Lowa was great and immediately gave a refund. However I'd have preferred working boots as I really enjoy them otherwise They are very comfortable. Only on hikes of 20+ km or multi day tours I sometimes wish for a tad more cushioning. They provide stability and traction where I took them, from the Lake District to the Austrian Alps in both summer and winter with snow. I'd love to see a non-GTX version with mesh uppers as a truly ventilated option for summer hiking. That would be my go-to summer boot.
