super comfy boot and light weight but they started to leak within a year and more importantly for me the type of rubber compound used for the sole is nothing but dangerous in the wet. fell on a wet root on day one, very slippy on wet rock like walking on ice. Guess it's so there's still a sole left once the uppers have rotted away. One tounge never sat straight from first wearing but that has stopped the top of the boot wearing away, which has happened to the other one. Oh and the foot beds had to be replaced as they were too small, I replaced them for Lowa but they weren't very good quality so wore out quickly. The right boot now makes a noise every step. Not what I expected from a boot of this price

I love these boots for comfort and I'm probably on my 5th or 6th pair. However they do have problems. They last about for about 1500km (one year for me) before the heels wear out requiring a now expensive replacement. In addition I've had to get replacement boots under warranty for a split sole and leaking around the toe in boots only a month or so old. Maybe I'll try something different next time ideally with a replaceable sole.

It's very rare I go back to review something I bought years ago, but these exceptional boots deserve recognition. The first thing you notice is how incredibly comfortable they are from first wear. Surreally comfortable for a new boot. I have since done thousands upon thousands of kilometres in them, most recently the GR221 in Mallorca which is famous for huge amounts of boot-shredding sharp limestone. They have been exceptionally comfortable and supportive the whole time. My Renegades are approaching the end of their life, but for the unbelievable amount of wear I got out of them, in all sorts of conditions, I will have absolutely no hesitation in replacing them with another pair when they do finally give up. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Dry weather only. Comfortable and lightweight. However, after 2 years = c. 1,500 km and 80 uses, some seam stitching started to unravel and BOTH boots started to leak. Even after I had those seams re-sewn, the leaks continued. Not good

I have had these now for just over a year, and am extremely pleased with them. They were very comfortable from day one, and despite my morning dog walks being generally in long wet grass, have not let any water in. I wont bother looking elsewhere when these eventually were out.

These are great boots and you will love them out of the box....but I have just had to retire my second pair due to the challenge of a split appearing between the outer toe and the sole. I now have two pairs that have split in exactly the same place which is frustrating during the last 12 months. Not sure on the anticipated lifespan that Lowa suggest but to give an idea the two pairs have covered 2300 miles in 12 months over rocky and steep terrain. Not sure if the problem is with the boot or if I need a more resilient version from their range. I would not be put off buying from Lowa again but probably would look for an alternative tougher boot in future... whilst when they are not split they offer probably the best comfort and support I have ever found simply put I cannot afford the six month lifespan!! I would recommend these with the caveat on the longevity if you are planning to cover big distances in rocky terrain.
