The unit looks to be well made but it took a little bit of fiddling with the bracket to stop the spit binding in the slots of the bbq side panels.

This really is a great piece of kit. There’s something about a rotisserie chicken that gets a wow reaction from the guests. It’s so easy and delicious that I do the Sunday lunch chicken on it, even if we are cooking the rest of the meal indoors (veg etc). It’s easy to use, it’s solidly built, and doesn’t need balancing. The motor isn’t waterproof, so barbecue as normal if it’s raining. The spit splits into 2 pieces, so I just store everything in the box when not in use. It’s not small, these are solid spits, and the spikes are not to mess around with! I would recommend this to any barbecue aficionado, as it makes any meat self basting and delicious. One my genesis II 3 burner there’s space underneath to do drip roast potatoes etc, if you take the grates off. There’s not a huge amount of space between the spit and the bars; if it was me I would have designed it so that it sat higher. But its usable for many joints, poultry etc. I’ve only given it 4 stars because with the motor mounted in place in the clip, it is not possible to slot the spit into place as per the instructions. Ignore the you tube videos that shows it gently sliding into place, what you actually do is wrestle with a loaded spit, while loading the motor one handed onto the end of the spit, before lowering and sliding the whole assembly into place. I thought at first it was just me but research seems to suggest it’s fairly common. That design flaw aside, I would still recommend this product, and I’m glad I’ve got it, if only to see people faces when they ask “what are we having” and you open the lid.
