Starcut does exactly what is made to do. High quality product. Easy to use, albeit a little heavy, but it needs to be to cut branches in the higher bows.

Its fairly light to use considering the length. I am still getting the hang of holding it and pulling the cutter sleeve. It's actually easier to support it on my hip and then slide the cutting handle strongly. Somehow it's not so easy to use the pull cord at the bottom of the handle. Great that the 'cord' is stored inside the handle. A very neat piece of equipment. Once I get the hang of it, it's going to make cutting branches easier.

I've only been using this tool for a few days, but so far I've been impressed. To give context, I was replacing a broken "rope" style long reach pruner/saw which snapped. Pros: Excellent reach (I can reach much higher than my old one), not too heavy, cuts smaller branches (1-2cm) with ease (particularly green ones), comes with a 25year manufacture guarantee. The lack of ropes and adjustable head make cutting straightforward and stops tangles. The hook for pulling cut branches is also very useful. It doesn't have any attachements like a saw head, which I see as a positive because I actually found the dual capabilities often got in the way of each other. It feels like a well made tool. Cons: It's long even when at it's shortest length (probably over 2m). This probably precludes it from being stored in most sheds. This isn't a surprise and was clearly indicated in the description but just something to reinforce. I also found that there was a reasonable amount of force required to cut thicker branches. The specification says that up to 32mm but this thickness does need some force. I'm also not a massive fan of the cutting mechanism (it's a sliding handle or pull-toggle mechanism). On the plus side it keeps all the cables internal (which is great) and it's fine when using the sliding handle where both hands can easily be kept on the tool, but when using the pull-toglle (extended to maximum length and working at my maximum reach) I found it's difficult to keep the tool steady and pull the cord to make the cut. I needing to use the branch to support the head prior to the cut, but due to the hand placement required the tool head will then drop after you cut, as you only have one hand on the tool to stabilise it (with the other hand on the toggle). It might be a technique thing though and it's really only an issue at maximum length. I would buy again and it's definitly better than my old one. Hopefully it will last longer too!

This is a great tool. I purchased it particularly for trimming back a tall conifer tree growing over from the neighbours garden and it worked very well. The cutter extends to a very long length and enabled me to get quite high into the tree. As mentioned in other reviews, the cutter is long, even before extending it, and so storage may pose a problem. I found that cutting 3cm thick branches was not as easy as suggested by the advertising. It did take some effort to make the cut. It is also not really practical to achieve a 6m cutting height above the ground because when the tool is fully extended it is not so easy to hold in position as it is quite weighty and wobbles a little making it harder to control unles you hold it lower down. Having said all that, it is a very good tool and well worth the investment.
