The Trumpeter HMS Eskimo Destroyer 1941 from our 1/350 and 1/400 scale ship model kits range accurately recreates the real-life British Tribal-class destroyer from World War II. This plastic model kit requires paint and glue to complete.HMS Eskimo (L-75/F-75/G-75) was a Tribal-class British destroyer, laid down by the High Walker Yard of Vickers Armstrong at Newcastle-on-Tyne on 5 August 1936. It was launched on 3 September 1937 and commissioned on 30 December 1938.Eskimo participated in the Second Battle of Narvik in April 1940, supported the Allied landings in North Africa in November 1942 and served with the 10th Destroyer Flotilla at Plymouth. It attacked and sank the enemy German submarine U-971 while in company with the Canadian destroyer HMCS Haida and a Liberator aircraft of the Czech air force in the English Channel north of Brest on 24 June 1944. During the final days of the war, it operated in the Far East. For most of the spring of 1945, she was employed in operations south of Ramree Island (Burma) where odd parties of Japanese were holding out. Eskimo and other Tribals later joined up with Force 61 to intercept and destroy what was left of the Japanese surface fleet.HMS Eskimo was reduced to an accommodation and headquarters ship for minesweepers, wreck-disposal vessels, and salvage craft clearing the Thames and Medway estuaries in 1946. It was used as a target ship in the Gareloch, sold for scrap on 27 June 1949 and finally broken up at Troon.Manufacturer: Trumpeter Model: 05331 HMS Eskimo Destroyer 1941 Model Kit Scale: 1/350

Overall the kit is good. The 8 barrel 2 pdr anti aircraft gun is inaccurate: this should have 4 barrels. One of the main gun mounts should be for 4 inch not 4.7 inch guns. And there are some issues re boats.

I ordered the Trumpeter model of HMS Eskimo for my friend, one of the staff at Wonderland Models rang me and explained that the model would not be in stock until March 2018, he then offered the alternative HMS Zulu, l agreed that it would be fine, the following day the model arrived, talk about fast service, l was gobsmacked, The model is now under construction. I cannot praise Wonderland Models enough, they have raised the bar They get a ten from Len and a ten from me May they go from strength to strength Steve Wilson-Burgess York

A poorly researched effort, not depicting the vessel correctly. The hull is right but armament, equipment and camouflage have several errors. The most glaring is the depiction of an 8 barrel "pom-pom" whereas all vessels other than capital ships had the lighter 4 barrel mount. Neither is the 4" High-angle fitted in 1941 in place of 'X' mount shown. Disappointing.
