This was my second purchase. We wanted some spare parts which were not available. My son Wanted a new silver body on my original one purchased recently so we decided to purchase a complete kit only to use for spare parts.

Bought to complement my sons Hotshot car. I had the original back in the day, easy to build a quicker than I remember. Painted the body to resemble Airwolf.

Very robust , fun to build *. Especially good on gravely ground. I measured avg speed at approx 12mph Bumper stronger than most Fairly simple to skid The super hotshot comes with spike studded tyres, so it's worth buying spares. (In my opinion flat studded are best) *I recommend pliers , as the e rings are hard to clip on without them.

My first Tamiya build since the early 2000's or so. Excellent Tamiya quality both in terms of materials and build as well as documentation. As was always the case, always found myself wishing they'd put in an extra tube of grease, but as long as you're not too liberal with it, there's enough to get through the build without too much worrying. A couple of small niggles: If you're an obsessive like me, the ESC that comes with it is slightly annoying in the layout of the cabling as it means I have to contort the cabling slightly to get it out of the box optimally. Also seems like there is a bit of rubbing on the inside of the front left wheel, but these are adjustable, suspect just need to spend some time adjusting. Fun build, had one of my kids helping me and took us about 12 hours over a few build sessions to do the car not including painting body etc. It's been quite a few years since I've built one though so an experienced and confident builder I'm sure would do it quicker. Car itself is a great runner, all the family have played with it, couple of crashes so far no damage so seems robust.

This is a great and very detailed model kit. The quality of plastic is good but the ammount of parts to contruct is immense!! It is recommended for 14+ and if i'd attempted this model at 15 i'd have had quite a job on my hands. Some of the intructions are a little odd and the paint colours for tamiya paints are wrong, they're translated from chinese so be wary and patient. It all seems to fit together nicely, there are some nice details and i'm hoping to finish it in the next 2 months or so!! It's a great kit but not for beginners!!!!

Having had a Hornet for a while with a v hot motor and been amazed how robust it is, so I was very disappointed when after 4 days and with a very minor impact the SuperHotshot front drive differential assembly case split. The wheel is mounted to this and as a consequence it is a very weak design. It's also a real pain to replace. The build was straight forward although a couple of bolts securing the bottom assembly are a little too long so care is needed to avoid damaging them.
