The Humbrol DecalFix 28ml Decal Setting Solution in the modelling accessories range provides a decal setting solution that softens decals and secures them in place.
For use with decals to improve adhesion and help conceal carrier film. Use to soak decal and apply thinly to the surface area before and after the decal has been positioned to help soften and draw the decal to the surface. Directions for use:
Shake before use. Cut decal and soak in solution for approx. 1 min until decal starts to come away from the carrier sheet. Brush a small amount of solution on to desired area. Slide decal from carrier sheet on to the desired area using a soft brush. Remove excess Decalfix solution with a soft brush and gently dabbing with tissue. Leave to dry for 6 hours to fully set and harden.
Note: Decal may wrinkle once applied. The decal will then sink in to any curves/panels and harden. Manufacturer: Humbrol Model: AC6134 DecalFix 28ml Decal Setting Solution

worked well and the decals settled down without any silvering, however the decal fix reacted with my satin varnish at the finishing stage and all the decals were ruined with a 'clouding' effect

Great for getting decal in awkward curved areas.

decalfix stops all the moving around of decals and leaves the surface very smooth and flat easy to varnish

I had problems with the decals I'd applied to the leading edges of an Airfix Spitfire Mk IX - it took me so long to get them in place that they lost all of their stickiness and were being slowly peeled off by the effects of gravity! Decalfix didn't solve that problem (cunning use of small blobs of paint did!), but having since used it on both the quality Airfix decals as well as the horrendous "plasticky" decals, I can safely say that it does exactly what it's supposed to. If you're unlucky enough to be using any "plasticky" decals then you'd be wise to completely drown them in Decalfix for at least a minute before applying them as quickly and precisely as possible. Some of the larger decals I applied to my Beaufighter have started tearing at the edges and dropping off simply because I didn't submerge them fully in Decalfix - sadly this kind of decal doesn't respond to the "small blobs of paint" treatment! Absolutely a five star product when used with good quality decals, though!

Would recommend new users of this product view the humbrol Decalfix video on YouTube before using. I used it on humbrol acrylic paints without any klear or varnish applied I.e. a matt surface. Decals went on smoothly and then dried down into the surface details. Decals looked surperb once dried. Excellent product. Easy to apply - just one solution rather than needing 2 separate products or a smooth varnished surface. No silvering seen on dried decals. Excellent service from Wonderland, fast delivery.

Enables the decal to slide off the backing and onto the model easily without tearing and even if it does tear it's easy to move the parts around to the correct position. When dry the decal looks as if it's painted on, if there's any residue on the surface when dray it can easily be wiped off with a damp cloth.

Applied this on a model using small decals and worked really well, gives you time to position correctly, would recommend.
